Smooth the climb
A good takeoff has a defined shape. It also has a defined end. For an airliner that's thrust reduction and acceleration, commonly somewhere around 1,000 to 1,500 ft above the airfield depending on the operator, while for a light aircraft it's established at Vy with the flaps on schedule. Most simmers have no defined end to their takeoff, which is exactly why it never gets judged.

The threshold, the flare and the hold-off. The approach that led to it is the stabilisation gates below.
One stabilised approach gate for a circuit: five checks where the approach path is 500 ft above the runway. The 1,000 ft gate is an instrument-approach check and does not apply.
The approach, gate by gate
Side view — the last 1,524 m of the approach.
Plan view — the first 1,524 m of the 1,814 m runway, to the same scale as the side view.
Touched down 579 m past the threshold — beyond the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
The flight began with a departure roll from runway 23 at EGPE Inverness Airport. The Baron aircraft required a takeoff distance of 497 meters, which accounted for 27% of the runway. The liftoff speed was achieved at 91 knots. At the time of departure, the local weather conditions were characterized by a temperature of 16 degrees Celsius and a wind speed of 2 knots from a direction of 269 degrees. This resulted in a crosswind of 1 knot and a headwind of 2 knots.
As the aircraft entered the left-hand pattern from runway 23, it covered a distance of 1 nautical mile in 24 seconds. The subsequent left-hand pattern crosswind maneuver was completed in less than 1 nautical mile in 19 seconds. The pattern downwind turn involved a distance of 2 nautical miles, with an angle to the runway of 45 degrees and a turn angle of 58.0 degrees. The downwind leg itself covered a distance of 3 nautical miles in 76 seconds.
The pattern base leg turn required a distance of 2 nautical miles, with an angle to the runway of 45 degrees and a turn angle of 43.5 degrees. The base leg covered a distance of less than 1 nautical mile in 33 seconds. The final turn before landing was completed in less than 1 nautical mile in 38 seconds. The aircraft then began its final approach to runway 23 from the north-east, heading 228.0 degrees at 1 nautical mile and 378 feet above ground level.
The landing on runway 23 was executed with a threshold height above the target and a threshold speed that was too high at 86 knots. The touchdown point was 141 meters beyond the touchdown zone, but the touchdown speed of 62 knots was good, and the touchdown rate of -75 feet per minute was excellent. The runway touchdown alignment was perfect, and the local weather conditions at the time of landing were characterized by a temperature of 20 degrees Celsius and a wind speed of 3 knots from a direction of 220 degrees, resulting in a crosswind of 0 knots and a headwind of 3 knots.
The total landing distance was 1,013 meters, which accounted for 56% of the runway. The runway rollout alignment was perfect, indicating a smooth and controlled descent. The total flight distance was 11 nautical miles, and the flight duration was 6 minutes. The aircraft used a total of -5 kilograms of fuel during the flight.
The aircraft in question, a Baron, successfully landed at EGPE Inverness Airport, showcasing a high level of proficiency in its pilot. The final approach was initiated from the north-east, aligning with the runway 23 at a heading of 228.0°, approximately 1 nautical mile away and at an altitude of 378 feet above ground level (agl).
Upon landing, the aircraft touched down on the runway, with the touchdown point located 141 meters beyond the designated touchdown zone. This slight deviation from the target zone is not considered significant, given the overall performance of the landing. The touchdown speed of 62 knots was within the acceptable range, indicating a smooth and controlled descent. Furthermore, the touchdown rate of -75 feet per minute (fpm) was excellent, demonstrating the pilot's ability to manage the aircraft's descent and maintain a stable approach.
The local weather conditions at the time of the landing were favorable, with a temperature of 20°C and a gentle headwind of 3 knots from a direction of 220°. The crosswind component was negligible, at 0 knots, which further contributed to the smoothness of the landing. The runway length at EGPE Inverness Airport is 1,814 meters, providing a sufficient margin for the aircraft to come to a stop after touchdown.
The total landing distance of 1,013 meters, which accounts for 56% of the runway length, is a respectable figure, considering the aircraft's size and weight. The runway rollout alignment was perfect, indicating that the pilot maintained control of the aircraft throughout the landing process, ensuring a stable and controlled deceleration.
Overall, the landing of the Baron at EGPE Inverness Airport was a success, with the pilot demonstrating a high level of skill and proficiency in managing the aircraft's approach and landing. The slight deviations from the target zone and threshold speed were minor and did not compromise the overall safety of the landing.
