Slow down before tight turns
Twenty knots on a monitor produces the visual sensation of about ten. The advice to "taxi at a walking pace" cannot fix this, because your sense of walking pace is exactly the thing that's broken. Put the groundspeed readout in your scan and obey it for the next fifty flights, the way a student pilot leans on the airspeed indicator before learning to read attitude.

One stabilised approach gate: five checks where the approach path is 500 ft above the runway. The 1,000 ft gate was not assessed, because the approach did not join final that far out.
The approach, gate by gate
Side view — the last 1,524 m of the approach.
Plan view — the first 1,524 m of the 3,493 m runway, to the same scale as the side view.
The 419 m touchdown sits inside the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
The flight began with a taxiing period from the parking to the runway, which took approximately 3 minutes and covered less than 1 nautical mile. The aircraft, a Boeing 737-600, then departed from runway 24 at GQNO Nouakchott–Oumtounsy International Airport. The takeoff distance was 800 meters, which accounted for 32% of the runway. The liftoff speed was 137 knots.
The local weather conditions at the time of departure were characterized by a temperature of 33 degrees Celsius, with a wind speed of 4 knots at 127 degrees. This resulted in a crosswind of 4 knots and a tailwind of 1 knot. The aircraft then began its enroute climb, starting 1 mile southwest of the airport and reaching an altitude of 36,510 feet above sea level. The climb was a significant increase of 35,496 feet in 23 minutes, covering a distance of 162 nautical miles.
Following the enroute climb, the aircraft entered a level cruise phase, which started 39 miles northeast of Akjoujt, Mauritania. This phase lasted for 155 minutes and covered a distance of 1,247 nautical miles. The aircraft then began its enroute descent, starting 8 miles east of Lardjem, Algeria. The descent was from an altitude of 36,170 feet to 1,313 feet above sea level, a decrease of 34,857 feet in 25 minutes, covering a distance of 95 nautical miles.
The final approach to runway 27 at DAAG Houari Boumediene Airport was from the east, with a heading of 272.0 degrees at 4 nautical miles and 1,236 feet above ground level. The landing on the runway was successful, with a touchdown distance of 418 meters, which was 24% of the runway length. The touchdown speed was 112 knots, and the touchdown rate was -190 feet per minute. However, the runway touchdown position was misaligned by 12.2 meters from the centerline.
The local weather conditions at the time of landing were characterized by a temperature of 29 degrees Celsius, with a wind speed of 18 knots at 350 degrees. This resulted in a crosswind of 17 knots and a headwind of 4 knots. The total landing distance was 838 meters, which was 24% of the runway length. The runway rollout alignment was slightly misaligned by 10.3 meters from the centerline.
The taxiing period from the runway to the parking took approximately 4 minutes and covered less than 1 nautical mile. The total flight distance was 1,510 nautical miles, taking a total of 214 minutes, and the aircraft used 8,938 kilograms of fuel during the flight.
The Boeing 737-600 aircraft successfully landed at Houari Boumediene Airport, with a score of 93.7%. The final approach to runway 27 was initiated from the east, heading 272.0° at a distance of 4 nautical miles and an altitude of 1,236 feet above ground level.
The aircraft touched down on the runway with a good threshold height, and the threshold speed was also satisfactory at 123 knots. The touchdown distance was within acceptable limits at 418 meters, and the touchdown speed was 112 knots, which is also considered good. Furthermore, the touchdown rate of -190 feet per minute was within the desired range.
However, there were some minor issues during the landing. The runway touchdown position was slightly misaligned from the centreline by 12.2 meters, which may have been due to the pilot's judgment or the aircraft's navigation system. Additionally, the local weather conditions, with a temperature of 29°C and a wind speed of 18 knots at 350°, may have contributed to the slight misalignment.
The crosswind component was 17 knots, while the headwind component was 4 knots. The total landing distance was 838 meters, which is 24% of the runway length. Although this is within the acceptable range, it is worth noting that the runway rollout alignment was also slightly misaligned from the centreline by 10.3 meters.
Overall, the landing was considered successful, with a score of 93.7%. However, there is room for improvement in terms of aligning the aircraft with the centreline during touchdown and rollout.
