MY FS FLIGHTS
Flight Score
Arrival
Begin the flare with progressive back pressure and keep it coming until the sink is arrested, rather than flying it on flat.
What happened: The nose was barely raised in the flare and little of the sink was taken out, flying the aircraft onto the runway. This pattern usually carries through to a firm touchdown with a noticeable sink rate.
Watch for: Vertical speed indicator: a smoothly reducing sink through the normal flare band, not a steady rate into the runway.
There are several things that can go wrong during the flare, carrying too much speed over the threshold, starting the flare at the wrong height and inconsistent flight control inputs, all contribute to a poor flare resulting in a hard touchdown or a float down the runway.

The threshold, the flare and the hold-off. The approach that led to it is the stabilisation gates below.
Two stabilised approach gates, each with seven checks, where the approach path is 1,000 ft and 500 ft above the runway. They are the approach's score: the checks passed out of the checks that ran.
The approach, gate by gate
Side view — the last 1,524 m of the approach.
Plan view — the first 1,524 m of the 2,279 m runway, to the same scale as the side view.
The 300 m touchdown sits inside the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
The aircraft taxied from the parking area to runway 35 at DAAV Jijel Ferhat Abbas Airport in 9 minutes, covering a distance of 2 nm.
During the departure roll on runway 35, the take-off run was 737 m, representing 31 % of the runway length, and liftoff was achieved at 95 kt; ambient temperature was 16 °C with a wind of 2 kt from 270°, a crosswind component of 2 kt and no headwind.
Climb commenced 1 mile north of the airport, with the aircraft ascending from 999 ft asl to 14 547 ft asl, a gain of 13 549 ft in 8 minutes while covering 22 nm.
The first cruise segment began 16 miles west of Karkira, lasting 10 minutes and extending over 43 nm.
Descent started 3 miles south of Azzaba, descending from 15 006 ft asl to 6 998 ft asl, a loss of 8 008 ft in 5 minutes and covering 20 nm.
A subsequent cruise phase originated 5 miles south-east of Berrahal, lasting 3 minutes and spanning 9 nm.
The next descent began 4 miles north-west of El Hadjar, with altitude decreasing from 7 004 ft asl to 3 992 ft asl, a reduction of 3 012 ft in 3 minutes over 10 nm.
A further cruise segment started 3 miles east of Annaba, lasting 3 minutes and covering 8 nm.
Descent resumed 12 miles east of Annaba, dropping from 3 990 ft asl to 2 391 ft asl, a loss of 1 599 ft in 3 minutes while traveling 8 nm.
The final cruise leg began 10 miles north-east of DABB Annaba Rabah Bitat Airport, lasting 3 minutes and encompassing 6 nm.
On final approach to runway 23 at DABB Annaba Rabah Bitat Airport, the aircraft descended from 1 905 ft agl to 291 ft agl in 133 seconds and was recorded as having scored on the stabilisation gates.
Landing on runway 23 was performed with a threshold speed of 87 kt; touchdown occurred at 78 kt after a 300 m rollout, with a touchdown rate of minus 217 fpm and a lateral deviation of 6.2 m from the centreline. Ambient conditions were 15 °C, wind 2 kt from 270°, crosswind 1 kt and headwind 2 kt. Total landing distance was 651 m, representing 29 % of the runway, and the runway rollout alignment was judged very good.
The runway rollout alignment remained very good throughout the deceleration phase.
Taxi-in from the runway to the parking area required 1 minute and covered less than 1 nm.
In total, the flight covered 134 nm, required 49 minutes of airborne time, and consumed 123 kg of fuel.
The TBM 850 approached runway 23 at DABB Annaba Rabah Bitat Airport in a stabilised configuration, with gear, flaps, sink rate, glideslope, centreline and speed all within limits as assessed at the 1,000 ft gate. The descent proceeded from 1,905 ft agl to 291 ft agl in 133 seconds and the approach earned full marks on the stabilisation gates, contributing to the overall score of 95.1 %.
At threshold the height was good and the threshold speed was good at 87 kt. The flare produced a touchdown distance of 300 m and a touchdown speed of 78 kt, both rated good, while the touchdown rate was fair at minus 217 fpm. The aircraft landed slightly off centreline, with a lateral deviation of 6.2 m.
Runway rollout alignment was very good. The total landing distance was 651 m, representing 29 % of the 2,283 m runway, and the aircraft remained aligned throughout the rollout.
Minor refinements should focus on reducing the 6.2 m lateral deviation at touchdown and achieving a slightly softer touchdown rate to move the “fair” rating toward “good”.
