MY FS FLIGHTS
Flight Score
Know your rotation speed
A typical trainer rotates in the mid-50s of knots - a 172 at around 55 KIAS, climbing out at a Vy in the low 70s, though check your own POH rather than memorising Cessna's numbers - and the transferable rule is that Vr sits just above the stall speed in takeoff configuration. Rotate early because "it felt ready" and the aircraft lifts off inside ground effect, where induced drag is reduced, then climbs out of it into more drag. On a marginal-performance day the result is an aircraft that lifts off and then refuses to climb, sagging back towards the runway.

The threshold, the flare and the hold-off. The approach that led to it is the stabilisation gates below.
Two stabilised approach gates, each with five checks, where the approach path is 1,000 ft and 500 ft above the runway.
The approach, gate by gate
Side view — the last 1,524 m of the approach.
Plan view — the first 1,524 m of the 2,337 m runway, to the same scale as the side view.
The 199 m touchdown sits inside the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
Departing from Düsseldorf Airport (EDDL), the A400M aircraft began its taxiing process from the parking area to the runway, taking approximately 7 minutes to cover a distance of 1 nautical mile. Upon reaching runway 23L, the aircraft initiated its departure roll, utilizing 1,177 meters, or 49% of the runway, to achieve liftoff at a speed of 152 knots. The local weather conditions at the time of departure featured a temperature of 19°C, with a gentle wind of 5 knots at 9°, resulting in a negligible crosswind and tailwind component.
As the aircraft climbed out of Düsseldorf, it transitioned into an enroute climb, ascending from 1,171 feet above sea level to 22,999 feet in 9 minutes, covering a distance of 52 nautical miles. The climb phase was followed by a brief enroute level cruise, lasting 3 minutes, as the aircraft flew over Nottuln, Germany, before resuming its ascent. The aircraft then began its descent from 22,996 feet, reducing its altitude to 18,999 feet in 5 minutes, covering 34 nautical miles. This was followed by another enroute level cruise, lasting 5 minutes, as the aircraft flew over Wagenfeld, Germany. The final descent phase began 3 miles south-east of Steimbke, Germany, and saw the aircraft reduce its altitude from 18,389 feet to 1,592 feet in 15 minutes, covering 70 nautical miles.
Upon reaching the final approach phase, the aircraft began its descent towards runway 27L at Hannover Airport (EDDV), aligning itself with the runway from the east at a heading of 273.0°. The aircraft touched down on the runway at a speed of 116 knots, with a touchdown distance of 197 meters, and a touchdown rate of -568 feet per minute. The runway touchdown alignment was perfect, and the aircraft taxied to the parking area in 2 minutes, covering less than 1 nautical mile. The total flight distance was 219 nautical miles, with a total flight time of 48 minutes, and a fuel consumption of 2,697 kilograms.
The final approach to runway 27L at EDDV Hannover Airport from the east was executed with precision, with the aircraft aligning with the runway heading of 273.0° at 4 nautical miles and 1,406 feet above ground level. The approach quality was excellent, with a good threshold height and a threshold speed of 121 knots, well within the acceptable range. As the aircraft descended onto the runway, it touched down at a distance of 197 meters, with a touchdown speed of 116 knots, also within the desired parameters.
However, the touchdown characteristics were somewhat concerning, with a very hard touchdown rate of -568 feet per minute. This may indicate a slight loss of control during the final stages of the approach, although the runway touchdown alignment was perfect, with the aircraft centered on the runway centerline. The local weather conditions, with a temperature of 12°C and a gentle headwind of 2 knots, were favorable for the landing.
The aircraft's rollout was smooth and controlled, with perfect alignment on the runway centerline. The total landing distance of 789 meters, which accounted for 34% of the runway length, was within acceptable limits. Overall, the landing was considered to be of high quality, with a score of 96.3%. The crew's skill and attention to detail were evident throughout the approach and landing phases, resulting in a safe and efficient touchdown.
