MY FS FLIGHTS
Flight Score
Arrival
Begin the flare with progressive back pressure and keep it coming until the sink is arrested, rather than flying it on flat.
What happened: The nose was barely raised in the flare and little of the sink was taken out, flying the aircraft onto the runway. This pattern usually carries through to a firm touchdown with a noticeable sink rate.
Watch for: Vertical speed indicator: a smoothly reducing sink through the normal flare band, not a steady rate into the runway.
Arrive slow and the sink rate at the threshold is already above schedule, the flare is short because there is no energy to extend it, and the touchdown is hard in a way that feels exactly like a late flare. Diagnosing a slow arrival as a late flare is the catastrophic misread: you respond by flaring earlier, which bleeds more speed, which makes the next one worse. The tiebreaker is threshold speed against VRef, not feel. Never diagnose a flare without it.

The threshold, the flare and the hold-off. The approach that led to it is the stabilisation gates below.
Two stabilised approach gates, each with seven checks, where the approach path is 1,000 ft and 500 ft above the runway. They are the approach's score: the checks passed out of the checks that ran.
The approach, gate by gate
Side view — the last 1,524 m of the approach.
Plan view — the first 1,524 m of the 2,225 m runway, to the same scale as the side view.
The 305 m touchdown sits inside the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
Departing from Brest Bretagne Airport, the Boeing 737-700 began its journey by taxiing from the parking area to the runway, a process that took 13 minutes and covered a distance of 4 nautical miles. As the aircraft lined up on runway 07R, the local weather conditions were favorable, with a temperature of 16 °C and a gentle headwind of 8 kt at 39 °.
After a smooth departure roll, the aircraft lifted off the runway at a speed of 145 kt, utilizing 1,278 meters or 46% of the available runway length. The enroute climb phase commenced approximately 1 mile northeast of Guipavas, where the aircraft ascended from 1,277 feet above sea level to 34,991 feet, a vertical increase of 33,714 feet in 14 minutes, covering a distance of 88 nautical miles. The climb was followed by a 14-minute enroute level cruise, which lasted for 109 nautical miles, before the aircraft began its descent towards Liverpool John Lennon Airport.
As the aircraft approached its destination, it entered a series of enroute level cruises, with brief periods of descent and climb, before finally commencing its final approach to runway 09. The landing was executed smoothly, with a touchdown distance of 306 meters and a touchdown speed of 129 kt, although the touchdown rate was slightly higher than desired at -403 fpm. The aircraft taxied to the parking area, a process that took 19 minutes and covered less than 1 nautical mile. The total flight distance was 352 nautical miles, with a total flight time of 69 minutes and a fuel consumption of 2,821 kg.
The Boeing 737-700 touched down on runway 09 at EGGP Liverpool John Lennon Airport with a satisfactory approach quality, demonstrating good control and precision throughout the descent. The aircraft was established on the final approach from the west, heading 86.0° at 4 nautical miles and 1,319 feet above ground level. The threshold height was good, allowing for a smooth transition to the landing phase.
As the aircraft touched down, the threshold speed of 132 knots was achieved, meeting the required standards. However, the touchdown speed of 129 knots was slightly above the optimal range, resulting in a hard touchdown rate of -403 feet per minute. Despite this, the runway touchdown alignment was very good, indicating excellent control and precision during the final stages of the approach. The touchdown distance of 306 meters was also within acceptable limits.
Following touchdown, the aircraft maintained very good runway rollout alignment, demonstrating excellent control and stability during the deceleration phase. The total landing distance of 1,145 meters, which accounted for 51% of the runway length, was satisfactory. Overall, the landing performance was rated at 96.7%, reflecting a high level of proficiency and control throughout the approach, touchdown, and rollout phases.
