Fixing the bounce
Fast at the threshold, normal flare, and the runway seems to refuse the aircraft. The instinctive fix - pushing it on - causes the next one. A fast aircraft forced onto the runway touches nosewheel-first or nearly so. The tell is a touchdown that feels soft followed by a bounce that steepens. Pilots fix the bounce recovery; the cause was the 10 knots at the threshold.

Two stabilised approach gates, each with five checks, where the approach path is 1,000 ft and 500 ft above the runway.
The approach, gate by gate
Side view — the last 1,597 m of the approach.
Plan view — the first 1,597 m of the 3,171 m runway, to the same scale as the side view.
Touched down 645 m past the threshold — beyond the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
The Airbus A350-900 taxied from the parking area to runway 15R at RKSI Incheon International Airport in 15 minutes, covering 3 nm.
Departure roll on runway 15R used 2,128 m, representing 57 % of the runway length, and the aircraft lifted off at 167 kt; ambient temperature was 33 °C with wind 8 kt from 129°, including a 2 kt cross-wind component and an 8 kt head-wind.
Climb commenced 1 mile south-east of RKSI, ascending from 1,056 ft asl to 10,324 ft asl - a gain of 9,268 ft - in 7 minutes while covering 29 nm.
The first level cruise began 1 mile west of Suwon, lasting 3 minutes and spanning 15 nm.
A second climb segment started 3 miles south of Gwangju, raising the aircraft from 10,406 ft asl to 36,020 ft asl - an increase of 25,614 ft - over 43 minutes and 342 nm.
The following cruise phase originated 26 miles east of RJNO Oki Global Geopark Airport, continued for 121 minutes and covered 982 nm.
Climb resumed at latitude 43.8305387, longitude 151.117804, lifting from 36,596 ft asl to 38,368 ft asl - a gain of 1,771 ft - in 2 minutes while traveling 14 nm.
A third cruise segment began at latitude 44.005233, longitude 151.3741897, persisted for 329 minutes and encompassed 2,865 nm.
The next climb started 36 miles north of CAD3 Allan Dale Trailers, climbing from 36,987 ft asl to 38,664 ft asl - an increase of 1,677 ft - in 2 minutes over 14 nm.
Cruise continued 25 miles west of CBX5 Tungsten Airport for 167 minutes, covering 1,458 nm.
A further climb began 37 miles north-east of CZUC Ignace Municipal Airport, raising altitude from 38,974 ft asl to 41,171 ft asl - a gain of 2,198 ft - in 3 minutes across 32 nm.
The subsequent cruise started 25 miles north-east of CJT7 Cushing Lake Seaplane Base, lasted 47 minutes and spanned 436 nm.
Descent was initiated 9 miles south-east of CNR4 Tobermory Airport, descending from 41,523 ft asl to 1,874 ft asl - a loss of 39,649 ft - in 24 minutes while covering 142 nm.
Final approach to runway 23 at CYYZ Toronto Lester B. Pearson International Airport was flown from the north-east, on a heading of 226.0°, at 4 nm and 1,314 ft agl.
Landing on runway 23, whose length is 3,236 m, occurred with a threshold speed of 136 kt; touchdown was 545 m beyond the touchdown zone at 130 kt, with a touchdown rate of minus 65 fpm and a lateral deviation of 3.2 m from the centreline. Local weather reported 28 °C, wind 12 kt from 319°, a 12 kt cross-wind and a 1 kt tail-wind. Total landing distance was 1,832 m, representing 57 % of the runway, and rollout alignment was very good.
The aircraft taxied from the runway to the parking area in 14 minutes, covering 2 nm.
In total, the flight covered 6,341 nm, took 778 (units as provided), and consumed 76,974 kg of fuel.
The Boeing 737-800 entered the final approach to runway 23 at KRDM Roberts Field from the north-east on a heading of 239.0° at 4 nm and 1,562 ft agl. Local weather was 13 °C with wind 3 kt from 200°, including a 2 kt headwind and a 2 kt crosswind. At the 1,000 ft gate the approach was assessed as unstable because the sink rate was too high.
At threshold the aircraft maintained a good threshold speed of 136 kt and a good threshold height, setting up the flare for touchdown. The flare resulted in a touchdown distance that was good at 456 m.
Touchdown occurred with a good speed of 126 kt and a fair vertical rate of minus 298 fpm. The touchdown point was slightly misaligned by 3.9 m from the centreline, and the aircraft landed on runway 23 whose length is 2,138 m.
Rollout alignment was very good. The total landing distance was 1,268 m, representing 59 % of the available runway, and the aircraft remained well aligned during the rollout.
The high overall score of 97.4 % reflects solid performance; refining the approach to keep sink rate within limits will convert the unstable assessment to stable. Improving centreline tracking in the final seconds will further tighten touchdown alignment.
