MY FS FLIGHTS
Flight Score
Work on the flare
Arrive slow and the sink rate at the threshold is already above schedule, the flare is short because there is no energy to extend it, and the touchdown is hard in a way that feels exactly like a late flare. Diagnosing a slow arrival as a late flare is the catastrophic misread: you respond by flaring earlier, which bleeds more speed, which makes the next one worse. The tiebreaker is threshold speed against VRef, not feel. Never diagnose a flare without it.

The threshold, the flare and the hold-off. The approach that led to it is the stabilisation gates below.
Two stabilised approach gates, each with seven checks, where the approach path is 1,000 ft and 500 ft above the runway.
At the 1,000 ft gate: speed above the reference speed.
At the 500 ft gate: speed above the reference speed.
The approach, gate by gate
Side view — the last 5,000 ft of the approach.
Plan view — the first 5,000 ft of the 7,524 ft runway, to the same scale as the side view.
Touched down 2,456 ft past the threshold — beyond the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
The flight began with a taxiing period from the parking to the runway, which took 6 minutes and covered a distance of 2 nautical miles. The aircraft, a Cessna CJ4 Citation, then departed from runway 23 at the Akron Canton Regional Airport (KCAK). The takeoff distance was 2,097 feet, which accounted for 26% of the runway. The liftoff speed was 140 knots.
The local weather conditions at the time of departure were characterized by a temperature of 7°F and a wind speed of 5 knots from a direction of 189°. The crosswind component was 3 knots, while the headwind component was 4 knots. The aircraft then began its enroute climb, starting 1 mile south of Greensburg, Ohio. The climb took 6 minutes and covered a distance of 26 nautical miles, during which the aircraft ascended from an altitude of 2,074 feet above sea level to 19,777 feet above sea level, an increase of 17,703 feet.
Following the enroute climb, the aircraft entered a level cruise phase, which started overhead Kidron, Ohio, and lasted for 52 minutes. During this period, the aircraft covered a distance of 360 nautical miles. The enroute descent then began, starting overhead NC36 Benton's Airfield in Pikeville, North Carolina. The descent took 10 minutes and covered a distance of 60 nautical miles, during which the aircraft descended from an altitude of 19,995 feet above sea level to 3,055 feet above sea level, a decrease of 16,940 feet.
The aircraft then entered another level cruise phase, which started overhead Trent Woods, North Carolina, and lasted for 5 minutes. During this period, the aircraft covered a distance of 20 nautical miles. The enroute descent then began again, starting 3 miles south of Stonewall, North Carolina. The descent took 3 minutes and covered a distance of 9 nautical miles, during which the aircraft descended from an altitude of 2,990 feet above sea level to 1,306 feet above sea level, a decrease of 1,683 feet.
The final approach to runway 23R at Cherry Point MCAS/Cunningham Field (KNKT) was made from the north-east, heading 225.0°, at an altitude of 1,263 feet above ground level and a distance of 4 nautical miles from the runway. The local weather conditions at the time of landing were characterized by a temperature of 15°F and a wind speed of 6 knots from a direction of 290°. The crosswind component was 6 knots, while the headwind component was 3 knots.
The landing on runway 23R was made at a speed of 113 knots, which was higher than the target speed. The touchdown point was 1,046 feet beyond the touchdown zone, and the touchdown speed was 96 knots, which was also higher than the target speed. However, the touchdown rate was excellent at -95 feet per minute. The runway touchdown position was misaligned by 26 feet from the centerline. The total landing distance was 4,073 feet, which accounted for 54% of the runway. The runway rollout alignment was very good.
The taxiing period from the runway to the parking took 4 minutes and covered a distance of less than 1 nautical mile. The total flight distance was 483 nautical miles, and the flight duration was 90 minutes. The aircraft used 6 pounds of fuel during the flight.
The Cessna CJ4 Citation aircraft successfully landed at KNKT Cherry Point MCAS / Cunningham Field/ on runway 23R. The final approach was initiated from the north east, heading 225.0° at a distance of 4 nautical miles and an altitude of 1,263 feet above ground level (agl). The aircraft touched down on the runway, but there were some discrepancies in the landing performance.
The threshold height at 56 feet agl was slightly above the target, indicating that the aircraft may have been slightly high on its approach. Additionally, the threshold speed was too high at 113 knots, which could have contributed to the aircraft's fast touchdown speed of 96 knots. The touchdown rate, however, was excellent at -95 feet per minute (fpm), indicating a smooth and controlled descent.
The touchdown point was 1,046 feet beyond the touchdown zone, which is a significant deviation from the intended landing spot. Furthermore, the runway touchdown position was misaligned by 26 feet from the centreline, which could have been due to a slight drift or a miscalculation during the approach.
The local weather conditions at the time of landing were characterized by a temperature of 15°F and a wind speed of 6 knots from 290°. The crosswind component was 6 knots, while the headwind component was 3 knots. These conditions may have contributed to the aircraft's deviation from the centreline and the high touchdown speed.
The total landing distance was 4,073 feet, which is 54% of the runway length. This is a relatively long landing distance, but the runway rollout alignment was very good, indicating that the aircraft was able to maintain control and stability during the rollout phase. Overall, while there were some discrepancies in the landing performance, the aircraft was able to safely touch down on the runway and come to a stop without incident.
