MY FS FLIGHTS
Flight Score
Slow down before tight turns
Twenty knots on a monitor produces the visual sensation of about ten. The advice to "taxi at a walking pace" cannot fix this, because your sense of walking pace is exactly the thing that's broken. Put the groundspeed readout in your scan and obey it for the next fifty flights, the way a student pilot leans on the airspeed indicator before learning to read attitude.

The threshold, the flare and the hold-off. The approach that led to it is the stabilisation gates below.
One stabilised approach gate: five checks where the approach path is 500 ft above the runway. The 1,000 ft gate was not assessed, because the approach did not join final that far out.
Side view — the last 1,964 m of the approach.
Plan view — the first 1,964 m of the 2,494 m runway, to the same scale as the side view.
Touched down 553 m past the threshold — beyond the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
The flight began with the aircraft, an F-35C Lightning, taxiing from the parking area to the runway at EDDR Saarbrücken Airport. This process took 6 minutes and covered a distance of 1 nautical mile. The aircraft then departed from runway 09, with a takeoff distance of 1,050 meters, which accounted for 57% of the runway. The liftoff speed was 198 knots.
As the aircraft took off, it encountered local weather conditions of 15°C temperature and a wind speed of 6 knots at 300°. The crosswind was 3 knots, while the tailwind was 5 knots. After departing from Saarbrücken Airport, the aircraft began its enroute climb, starting 1 mile east of the airport and climbing from an altitude of 1,989 feet above sea level to 29,918 feet above sea level. This climb, which covered a distance of 42 nautical miles, took 7 minutes and resulted in an increase of 27,929 feet in altitude.
Following the enroute climb, the aircraft entered a level cruise phase, which started overhead Bischheim, a location in Rheinland-Pfalz, Germany. This phase lasted for 41 minutes and covered a distance of 435 nautical miles. The aircraft then began its enroute descent, starting 3 miles northeast of Lipnica, a location in Pomeranian Voivodeship, Poland. The descent, which covered a distance of 49 nautical miles, took 7 minutes and resulted in a decrease of 28,636 feet in altitude, from 29,807 feet above sea level to 1,171 feet above sea level.
The final approach to runway 31 at EPOK Oksywie Military Air Base was made from the southeast, with the aircraft heading 316.0° at an altitude of 1,018 feet above ground level and a distance of 4 nautical miles from the runway. The landing was made on runway 31, which had a length of 2,494 meters. The threshold height was good, and the threshold speed was also satisfactory at 173 knots.
The touchdown point was 142 meters beyond the touchdown zone, with a touchdown speed of 147 knots, which was considered good. The touchdown rate was firm at -333 feet per minute, and the runway touchdown alignment was very good. The local weather conditions at the time of landing were 9°C temperature and a wind speed of 4 knots at 228°, with a crosswind of 4 knots and a headwind of 0 knots.
The total landing distance was 1,889 meters, which accounted for 76% of the runway. The runway rollout alignment was also very good. After landing, the aircraft taxied to the parking area, a process that took less than 1 minute and covered a distance of less than 1 nautical mile. The total flight distance was 535 nautical miles, and the flight duration was 61 minutes. The aircraft used a total of 6,681 kilograms of fuel during the flight.
The F-35C Lightning aircraft successfully landed at EPOK Oksywie Military Air Base, achieving a high score of 94.2%. The final approach to runway 31 was conducted from the south east, with a heading of 316.0° at a distance of 4 nautical miles and an altitude of 1,018 feet above ground level.
The aircraft demonstrated good control and precision during the landing, with a threshold height that met the required standards. The threshold speed was also satisfactory, reaching 173 knots as it touched down on the runway. The touchdown point was located 142 meters beyond the designated touchdown zone, which is a relatively minor deviation.
The touchdown speed of 147 knots was within the acceptable range, and the touchdown rate of -333 feet per minute was firm but not excessive. This suggests that the aircraft's engines were well-managed during the landing, and the pilot was able to maintain control throughout the process.
The local weather conditions at the time of the landing were relatively calm, with a temperature of 9°C and a wind speed of 4 knots from a direction of 228°. This resulted in a negligible crosswind component and a headwind of 0 knots, making the landing conditions ideal.
The total landing distance of 1,889 meters was 76% of the runway length, which is a respectable achievement. The runway rollout alignment was also very good, indicating that the aircraft was well-controlled and stable during the post-landing phase.
Overall, the F-35C Lightning's landing at EPOK Oksywie Military Air Base was a success, with the aircraft demonstrating good control, precision, and adherence to safety protocols. The high score of 94.2% reflects the pilot's skill and the aircraft's performance under the given conditions.
