Slow down before tight turns
Twenty knots on a monitor produces the visual sensation of about ten. The advice to "taxi at a walking pace" cannot fix this, because your sense of walking pace is exactly the thing that's broken. Put the groundspeed readout in your scan and obey it for the next fifty flights, the way a student pilot leans on the airspeed indicator before learning to read attitude.

One stabilised approach gate: five checks where the approach path is 500 ft above the runway. The 1,000 ft gate was not assessed, because the approach did not join final that far out.
The approach, gate by gate
Side view — the last 1,524 m of the approach.
Plan view — the first 1,524 m of the 3,173 m runway, to the same scale as the side view.
Touched down 577 m past the threshold — beyond the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
The flight began with a taxiing period from the parking to the runway, which took 9 minutes and covered a distance of 3 nautical miles. The aircraft, a Boeing 737-900, then departed from runway 16R at RJAA Narita International Airport in Japan. The takeoff distance was 1,301 meters, which is 40% of the runway length. The liftoff speed was 158 knots, and the local weather conditions at the time of departure were a temperature of 29°C, with a wind speed of 4 knots at 140°.
As the aircraft climbed out of Narita International Airport, it began its enroute climb, which started 1 mile south of the airport. The climb took 40 minutes, during which the aircraft ascended from 1,148 feet above sea level to 37,684 feet above sea level, an increase of 36,537 feet. The enroute climb covered a distance of 256 nautical miles.
After the enroute climb, the aircraft entered a level cruise phase, which started 4 miles south of Nishinomiya-hama in Japan. This phase lasted for 65 minutes and covered a distance of 483 nautical miles. The aircraft then began its enroute descent, which started 27 miles west of RKGI Alddreu Airfield in South Korea. The descent took 18 minutes, during which the aircraft descended from 37,744 feet above sea level to 1,464 feet above sea level, a decrease of 36,280 feet. The enroute descent covered a distance of 69 nautical miles.
The aircraft then entered another level cruise phase, which started 28 miles northeast of Jeju City in South Korea. This phase lasted for only 2 minutes and covered a distance of 6 nautical miles. The aircraft then began another enroute climb, which started 27 miles northeast of RKPD Jeongseok Airport in South Korea. The climb took 2 minutes, during which the aircraft ascended from 1,874 feet above sea level to 3,010 feet above sea level, an increase of 1,136 feet. The enroute climb covered a distance of 4 nautical miles.
The aircraft then entered another level cruise phase, which started 22 miles northeast of RKPD Jeongseok Airport in South Korea. This phase lasted for 5 minutes and covered a distance of 17 nautical miles. The aircraft then began its final descent, which started 7 miles northeast of Jeju City in South Korea. The descent took 2 minutes, during which the aircraft descended from 2,807 feet above sea level to 1,391 feet above sea level, a decrease of 1,416 feet. The final descent covered a distance of 5 nautical miles.
The aircraft then began its final approach to runway 25 at RKPC Jeju International Airport, which was located to the northeast. The aircraft was heading 238.0° at 4 nautical miles and 1,297 feet above ground level. The landing was made on runway 25, which had a length of 3,173 meters. The threshold height at 68 feet above ground level was above the target, and the threshold speed was well above the target at 152 knots.
The touchdown point was 155 meters beyond the touchdown zone, and the touchdown speed was 131 knots, which was good. However, the touchdown rate was hard at -427 feet per minute. The runway touchdown position was misaligned by 9.7 meters from the centerline. The local weather conditions at the time of landing were a temperature of 28°C, with a wind speed of 12 knots at 240°.
The total landing distance was 1,063 meters, which is 33% of the runway length. The runway rollout alignment was slightly misaligned by 13.4 meters from
The Boeing 737-900 aircraft successfully landed at RKPC Jeju International Airport, but with some notable deviations from the ideal landing parameters. The final approach was initiated from the north east, heading 238.0° at a distance of 4 nautical miles and an altitude of 1,297 feet above ground level (agl). The aircraft touched down on runway 25, which has a length of 3,173 meters.
The threshold height at 68 feet agl was above the target, indicating that the aircraft was slightly higher than desired when reaching the runway threshold. However, the threshold speed of 152 knots was well above the target, suggesting that the aircraft was descending at a relatively high rate. The touchdown point was 155 meters beyond the touchdown zone, which may indicate a slight delay in the touchdown process.
The touchdown speed of 131 knots was within the acceptable range, indicating that the pilot had successfully controlled the aircraft's descent and speed. However, the touchdown rate of -427 feet per minute (fpm) was considered hard, suggesting that the aircraft may have experienced a significant deceleration upon touchdown. This could be due to various factors, including the aircraft's weight, the runway's surface, and the pilot's control inputs.
The runway touchdown position was misaligned by 9.7 meters from the centerline, which may indicate that the pilot had some difficulty in aligning the aircraft with the runway. The local weather conditions, with a temperature of 28°C and a wind speed of 12 knots at 240°, may have contributed to this deviation. The crosswind component was negligible, but the headwind component of 12 knots may have affected the aircraft's alignment.
The total landing distance of 1,063 meters was 33% of the runway length, which is within the acceptable range. However, the runway rollout alignment was slightly misaligned by 13.4 meters from the centerline, indicating that the pilot may have had some difficulty in controlling the aircraft's roll-out after touchdown. Overall, while the landing was successful, there were some notable deviations from the ideal parameters, which may require further analysis and improvement.
