Work on the flare
Arrive slow and the sink rate at the threshold is already above schedule, the flare is short because there is no energy to extend it, and the touchdown is hard in a way that feels exactly like a late flare. Diagnosing a slow arrival as a late flare is the catastrophic misread: you respond by flaring earlier, which bleeds more speed, which makes the next one worse. The tiebreaker is threshold speed against VRef, not feel. Never diagnose a flare without it.

The threshold, the flare and the hold-off. The approach that led to it is the stabilisation gates below.
One stabilised approach gate: five checks where the approach path is 500 ft above the runway. The 1,000 ft gate was not assessed, because the approach did not join final that far out.
The approach, gate by gate
Side view — the last 2,242 m of the approach.
Plan view — the full 2,242 m runway, to the same scale as the side view.
Touched down 825 m past the threshold — beyond the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
The flight in question was operated by a Boeing 777-300 aircraft. The aircraft began its journey by taxiing from the parking area to the runway, a process that took 6 minutes and covered a distance of 1 nautical mile. The departure roll took place on runway 25C at Frankfurt Airport (EDDF), with a takeoff distance of 1,291 meters, which is 32% of the runway length. The aircraft lifted off at a speed of 169 knots.
As the aircraft climbed to its cruising altitude, it encountered local weather conditions of 26°C temperature and a wind speed of 2 knots at 359°. The crosswind was 1 knot, and the tailwind was also 1 knot. The enroute climb started 1 mile south of Kelsterbach, Hessen, Germany, and the aircraft climbed from 1,365 feet above sea level to 34,068 feet above sea level, an increase of 32,704 feet in 17 minutes, covering a distance of 105 nautical miles.
The aircraft then entered a level cruise phase, starting overhead Oberpallen, Redange, Luxembourg, and lasting 2 minutes, covering 12 nautical miles. The enroute descent started 1 mile south of Tintigny, Wallonia, Belgium, and the aircraft descended from 34,068 feet above sea level to 33,188 feet above sea level, a decrease of 881 feet in 2 minutes, covering 12 nautical miles.
The aircraft continued to alternate between level cruise and climb phases, with each phase lasting for varying periods of time and covering different distances. The climb phases took place at different locations, including Mandres, Normandie, France, and Latitude: 48.0039437, Longitude: -7.9855109. The level cruise phases took place at various locations, including Oberpallen, Redange, Luxembourg, and Latitude: 48.0005708, Longitude: -8.3168254.
The enroute climb started at Latitude: 35.9580917, Longitude: -40.074033, and the aircraft climbed from 34,552 feet above sea level to 36,251 feet above sea level, an increase of 1,699 feet in 2 minutes, covering 13 nautical miles. The enroute level cruise started at Latitude: 35.8179517, Longitude: -40.3243575, and lasted 135 minutes, covering 1,043 nautical miles.
The aircraft continued to climb and cruise, with the final climb phase taking place at Latitude: 23.9445445, Longitude: -55.0574978. The aircraft climbed from 36,461 feet above sea level to 38,129 feet above sea level, an increase of 1,668 feet in 2 minutes, covering 13 nautical miles.
The enroute descent started 54 miles northeast of TAPB Barbuda Intl Barbuda, Barbuda, Antigua and Barbuda, and the aircraft descended from 38,107 feet above sea level to 1,809 feet above sea level, a decrease of 36,298 feet in 22 minutes, covering 77 nautical miles.
The final approach to runway 07 at TAPA V C Bird International Airport took place from the southwest, with a heading of 59.0° at 4 nautical miles and 1,761 feet above ground level. The aircraft landed on runway 07, which has a length of 2,242 meters. The threshold height was good, and the threshold speed was slightly above the target at 150 knots.
The touchdown point was 408 meters beyond the touchdown zone, and the touchdown speed was 142 knots, which was a little fast. The touchdown rate was fair at -259 feet per minute, and the runway touchdown alignment was perfect. The local weather
The Boeing 777-300 aircraft successfully landed at TAPA V C Bird International Airport, achieving an overall score of 80.4%. The final approach to runway 07 was initiated from the southwest, with a heading of 59.0° at a distance of 4 nautical miles and an altitude of 1,761 feet above ground level.
Upon landing, the aircraft touched down on the runway, with the threshold height being satisfactory. However, the threshold speed was slightly above the target speed of 150 knots, indicating a slight deviation from the optimal landing conditions. The touchdown point was located 408 meters beyond the designated touchdown zone, which may be considered a minor deviation.
The touchdown speed of 142 knots was slightly faster than the desired speed, resulting in a touchdown rate of -259 feet per minute, which was deemed fair. The runway touchdown alignment was perfect, indicating that the aircraft was properly aligned with the runway during the landing process.
The local weather conditions at the time of landing were characterized by a temperature of 33°C and a wind speed of 6 knots from a direction of 80°. The crosswind component was minimal at 2 knots, while the headwind component was 5 knots, which may have contributed to the slightly faster touchdown speed.
The total landing distance of 2,177 meters was 97% of the available runway length, indicating that the aircraft had sufficient runway remaining for safe deceleration. The runway rollout alignment was very good, suggesting that the aircraft was properly aligned with the runway during the rollout phase.
Overall, while the landing was not entirely flawless, the Boeing 777-300 aircraft demonstrated a high level of proficiency in executing a safe and controlled landing at TAPA V C Bird International Airport.
