Flight Score
Smooth the climb
A good takeoff has a defined shape. It also has a defined end. For an airliner that's thrust reduction and acceleration, commonly somewhere around 1,000 to 1,500 ft above the airfield depending on the operator, while for a light aircraft it's established at Vy with the flaps on schedule. Most simmers have no defined end to their takeoff, which is exactly why it never gets judged.

The threshold, the flare and the hold-off. The approach that led to it is the stabilisation gates below.
One stabilised approach gate: five checks where the approach path is 500 ft above the runway. The 1,000 ft gate was not assessed, because the approach did not join final that far out.
Side view — the last 1,524 m of the approach.
Plan view — the first 1,524 m of the 1,814 m runway, to the same scale as the side view.
The 200 m touchdown sits inside the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
The flight in the Douglas DC-3 began with a 5-minute taxi from the parking area to the runway at EGPO Stornoway. The departure roll from runway 36 covered 243 meters, which was 12% of the runway length. The liftoff speed was 78 knots. The local weather at the time indicated a temperature of 11°C, with a wind speed of 20 knots at 40°, resulting in a crosswind of 15 knots and a headwind of 14 knots.
During the enroute climb, the aircraft ascended from 285 feet above sea level to 4,960 feet above sea level, gaining 4,675 feet in altitude over a 7-minute period while covering a distance of 12 nautical miles. The enroute level cruise commenced 11 miles southeast of EGPO Stornoway and lasted for 16 minutes, covering 44 nautical miles.
The descent phase of the flight began 7 miles northeast of EGYQ Achnasheen Airstrip in Ullapool, as the aircraft descended from 5,342 feet above sea level to 3,717 feet above sea level, decreasing by 1,625 feet in altitude over a 3-minute period while covering 9 nautical miles.
The landing took place on runway 05 at EGPE Inverness, which has a runway length of 1,814 meters. The touchdown occurred 198 meters from the threshold, with a touchdown speed of 62 knots and a vertical speed indicator reading of -226 ft/m. The height at the threshold was 23 feet above ground level. During landing, the local weather indicated a temperature of 12°C, and a wind speed of 15 knots at 40°, resulting in a crosswind of 2 knots and a headwind of 15 knots. The total landing distance covered was 640 meters, which was 35% of the runway.
After landing, the aircraft taxied from the runway to the parking area in just 1 minute, covering less than 1 nautical mile. The total flight distance was 91 nautical miles, with a total flight time of 51 minutes. The flight consumed 250 kilograms of fuel during the journey.
Great job on achieving a landing score of 97.7%! Let's break down your performance in each phase of the landing process.
In the Approach Phase, your glideslope alignment was excellent, which is crucial for ensuring a smooth and precise descent towards the runway. While your speed was a little below target, it's great to see that you were well-aligned with the glideslope.
Moving on to the Landing Phase, you had a good threshold height, indicating that you were at the right altitude as you approached the runway. Your landing flare was perfect, ensuring a smooth transition from descent to touchdown.
During the Touchdown Phase, your touchdown rate was fair and your speed was on target, which is important for a safe and controlled landing. It's also impressive that you landed within the touchdown zone and the runway touchdown position was only 4.3 meters from the centerline, showing good precision in your touchdown.
Finally, in the Rollout Phase, your runway alignment was 6.8 meters from the centerline. While it's slightly off-center, it's still within an acceptable range and shows good control during the rollout after landing.
Overall, your performance in each phase of the landing process was commendable. Keep up the good work and continue practicing to further improve your skills and achieve even higher scores in future landings. Great job!
