A crosswind landing is a geometry problem. The air mass you're flying in is moving sideways across the runway, and you need your ground track down the centreline with your wheels aligned to it at the moment of contact. There are two techniques that will help, the crab and the sideslip.

The threshold, the flare and the hold-off. The approach that led to it is the stabilisation gates below.
Two stabilised approach gates, each with seven checks, where the approach path is 1,000 ft and 500 ft above the runway.
At the 1,000 ft gate: speed above the reference speed.
The approach, gate by gate
Side view — the last 1,524 m of the approach.
Plan view — the first 1,524 m of the 3,494 m runway, to the same scale as the side view.
The 357 m touchdown sits inside the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
The flight began with a taxiing period from the parking to the runway, which took 9 minutes and covered a distance of 3 nautical miles. The aircraft, an RJ85, then departed from runway 17R at Lyon Saint-Exupéry Airport, with a takeoff distance of 1,307 meters, which was 33% of the runway. The liftoff speed was 141 knots.
The local weather conditions at the time of departure were a temperature of 13°C, with a wind speed of 10 knots at 150°. The crosswind was 4 knots, and the headwind was 9 knots. The aircraft then began its enroute climb, starting overhead the airport at Colombier-Saugnieu, and climbed from 1,803 feet above sea level to 18,486 feet above sea level, an increase of 16,683 feet, in 11 minutes and covering a distance of 52 nautical miles.
The enroute level cruise started overhead Mercury, and lasted for 5 minutes, covering a distance of 32 nautical miles. The aircraft then began another enroute climb, this time from 18,828 feet above sea level to 30,654 feet above sea level, an increase of 11,826 feet, in 12 minutes and covering a distance of 82 nautical miles. The enroute level cruise then started 1 mile north east of Cornale, and lasted for 70 minutes, covering a distance of 519 nautical miles.
As the aircraft approached its destination, it began its enroute descent, starting 2 miles north west of Vatin, and descended from 30,756 feet above sea level to 1,622 feet above sea level, a decrease of 29,135 feet, in 15 minutes and covering a distance of 35 nautical miles. The final approach to runway 11 at Timişoara Traian Vuia Airport was made from the west, with a heading of 110.0°, at 4 nautical miles and 1,269 feet above ground level.
The landing on runway 11 was successful, with a touchdown distance of 354 meters, and a touchdown speed of 102 knots. The touchdown rate was smooth at -105 feet per minute. However, the runway touchdown position was misaligned by 8.9 meters from the centreline. The local weather conditions at the time of landing were a temperature of 17°C, with a wind speed of 13 knots at 190°. The crosswind was 13 knots, and the headwind was 2 knots.
The total landing distance was 1,055 meters, which was 30% of the runway. The runway rollout alignment was slightly misaligned by 7.6 meters from the centreline. The taxiing period from the runway to the parking took 3 minutes and covered a distance of less than 1 nautical mile. The total flight distance was 729 nautical miles, and the flight duration was 127 minutes. The aircraft used 4,701 kilograms of fuel during the flight.
The aircraft in question, an RJ85, successfully landed at LRTR Timişoara Traian Vuia Airport with a score of 97.3%. The final approach to runway 11 was initiated from the west, heading 110.0° at a distance of 4 nautical miles and an altitude of 1,269 feet above ground level (agl). The aircraft's approach was characterized by a good threshold height, indicating that the pilot maintained a safe distance from the runway threshold.
Upon touchdown, the aircraft's speed was slightly below the target threshold speed of 113 kt, coming in at 111 kt. However, the touchdown distance of 354 meters was deemed good, and the touchdown speed of 102 kt was also within acceptable limits. The touchdown rate was smooth, with a rate of -105 feet per minute (fpm), indicating a controlled descent.
Despite the successful landing, there were some minor issues with the aircraft's alignment. The runway touchdown position was misaligned by 8.9 meters from the centerline, and the runway rollout alignment was slightly misaligned by 7.6 meters from the centerline. However, these deviations were relatively minor and did not appear to have any significant impact on the safety of the landing.
The local weather conditions at the time of the landing were characterized by a temperature of 17°C and a wind speed of 13 kt from a direction of 190°. This resulted in a crosswind of 13 kt and a headwind of 2 kt. The total landing distance was 1,055 meters, which was approximately 30% of the runway length. Overall, the landing was considered successful, with the aircraft coming to a stop in a relatively short distance and with minimal deviations from the centerline.
