MY FS FLIGHTS
Flight Score
Work on the flare
Arrive slow and the sink rate at the threshold is already above schedule, the flare is short because there is no energy to extend it, and the touchdown is hard in a way that feels exactly like a late flare. Diagnosing a slow arrival as a late flare is the catastrophic misread: you respond by flaring earlier, which bleeds more speed, which makes the next one worse. The tiebreaker is threshold speed against VRef, not feel. Never diagnose a flare without it.

The threshold, the flare and the hold-off. The approach that led to it is the stabilisation gates below.
One stabilised approach gate: five checks where the approach path is 500 ft above the runway. The 1,000 ft gate was not assessed, because the approach did not join final that far out.
Side view — the last 1,922 m of the approach.
Plan view — the first 1,922 m of the 3,094 m runway, to the same scale as the side view.
Touched down 1,161 m past the threshold — beyond the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
The flight began with a taxiing period from the parking to the runway, which took 9 minutes and covered a distance of 4 nautical miles. The aircraft, a Boeing 737-MAX8, then departed from runway 05L at Manchester Airport (EGCC), with a takeoff distance of 13 meters, which was 1% of the runway. The liftoff speed was 168 knots.
As the aircraft took off, it encountered local weather conditions of a temperature of 26 degrees Celsius and a wind speed of 8 knots at 330 degrees. The crosswind was 8 knots, while the headwind was 1 knot. The enroute climb started overhead Manchester Airport, where the aircraft climbed from 1,284 feet above sea level to 5,108 feet above sea level, an increase of 3,824 feet in 2 minutes, covering a distance of 5 nautical miles.
The enroute level cruise then began overhead Urmston, lasting 2 minutes and covering 7 nautical miles. However, the aircraft soon began another climb, this time from 5,119 feet above sea level to 22,771 feet above sea level, an increase of 17,652 feet in 7 minutes, covering a distance of 39 nautical miles. The enroute level cruise then started again, this time overhead Myddle, lasting 32 minutes and covering 220 nautical miles.
The aircraft continued to climb, this time from 22,653 feet above sea level to 38,203 feet above sea level, an increase of 15,550 feet in 12 minutes, covering a distance of 97 nautical miles. The enroute level cruise then began again, this time 13 miles south west of Guilvinec, lasting 181 minutes and covering 984 nautical miles.
As the aircraft approached its destination, it began its descent, starting 28 miles west of Marrakech Menara Airport (GMMX). The descent was from 39,334 feet above sea level to 2,241 feet above sea level, a decrease of 37,093 feet in 6 minutes, covering a distance of 25 nautical miles. The final approach to runway 10 at GMMX Menara Airport was from the west, heading 93.0 degrees at 4 nautical miles and 646 feet above ground level.
However, the aircraft was required to perform a go-around, touching down at 0 feet above ground level. The landing was then attempted again, with the aircraft touching down on runway 10 at GMMX Menara Airport. The runway length was 3,094 meters, and the threshold height was slightly above target. The threshold speed was excessively high at 198 knots, while the touchdown speed was excessively fast at 183 knots.
The touchdown point was 315 meters beyond the touchdown zone, and the touchdown rate was hard at -482 feet per minute. The runway touchdown position was significantly misaligned by 22.5 meters from the centreline. The local weather conditions at the time of landing were a temperature of 26 degrees Celsius and a wind speed of 8 knots at 330 degrees, with a crosswind of 6 knots and a tailwind of 5 knots.
The total landing distance was 1,412 meters, which was 46% of the runway. The runway rollout alignment was misaligned by 26.3 meters from the centreline. The taxiing period from the runway to the parking took 2 minutes and covered less than 1 nautical mile. The total flight distance was 1,387 nautical miles, taking 251 minutes, and the aircraft used 8,384 kilograms of fuel.
The Boeing 737-MAX8 aircraft has been evaluated for its landing performance at GMMX Menara Airport. The final approach to runway 10 was initiated from the west, heading 93.0° at a distance of 4 nautical miles and an altitude of 646 feet above ground level (agl). The aircraft successfully landed on the runway, but several aspects of the landing were deemed suboptimal.
The threshold height, which is the height at which the aircraft touches down on the runway, was slightly above the target at 58 feet agl. This indicates that the aircraft may have been slightly high on its approach, which could have contributed to the subsequent issues. The threshold speed, which is the speed at which the aircraft should be traveling when it touches down on the runway, was excessively high at 213 kt. This suggests that the pilot may have been unable to slow the aircraft down sufficiently before touchdown.
Upon touchdown, the aircraft's speed was still excessively high at 183 kt, and the touchdown rate was hard at -482 fpm. This indicates that the aircraft may have been experiencing a high rate of descent, which could have put additional stress on the landing gear and other components. Furthermore, the touchdown point was 315 meters beyond the touchdown zone, which suggests that the pilot may have been unable to accurately judge the distance to the runway.
The runway touchdown position was also significantly misaligned by 22.5 meters from the centerline, which could have made it more difficult for the pilot to control the aircraft during the landing roll. The local weather conditions, with a temperature of 26°C and a wind speed of 8 kt at 330°, were relatively calm, which suggests that the issues with the landing were not due to adverse weather conditions.
The total landing distance was 1,412 meters, which is 46% of the runway length. This is a relatively long landing distance, which could indicate that the pilot may have been unable to slow the aircraft down sufficiently before touchdown. The runway rollout alignment was also misaligned by 26.3 meters from the centerline, which could have made it more difficult for the pilot to control the aircraft during the landing roll.
Overall, the landing performance of the Boeing 737-MAX8 aircraft at GMMX Menara Airport was suboptimal, with several issues related to speed, height, and alignment. While the aircraft was able to safely land on the runway, the pilot may have benefited from additional training or practice to improve their landing skills.
