Maintain the centreline
A small uncorrected heading error at 40 knots becomes a metre of offset per second by 100 knots, noticed only at rotation, producing a crabbed liftoff. Root cause is nearly always eyes on the tape instead of the far end of the runway. Small heading changes displace a distant point visibly long before the nearby centreline stripes look wrong.

The threshold, the flare and the hold-off. The approach that led to it is the stabilisation gates below.
One stabilised approach gate: five checks where the approach path is 500 ft above the runway. The 1,000 ft gate was not assessed, because the approach did not join final that far out.
Side view — the last 1,524 m of the approach.
Plan view — the first 1,524 m of the 3,142 m runway, to the same scale as the side view.
Touched down 583 m past the threshold — beyond the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
The flight began with a taxiing period from the parking to the runway, which took 13 minutes and covered a distance of 3 nautical miles. The aircraft, an Airbus A319, then departed from runway 36L at Adolfo Suárez Madrid–Barajas Airport (LEMD). The takeoff distance was 1,771 meters, which accounted for 53% of the runway. The liftoff speed was 160 knots, and the local weather conditions at the time of departure were a temperature of 8°C, with a wind speed of 10 knots at 350°.
As the aircraft climbed, it started its enroute climb 2 miles northwest of Paracuellos de Jarama, Spain. The climb took 18 minutes and covered a distance of 105 nautical miles, during which the aircraft ascended from 3,026 feet above sea level to 34,830 feet above sea level, an increase of 31,803 feet. The enroute level cruise then began 2 miles north of Baguena, Aragon, Spain, and lasted for 98 minutes, covering a distance of 745 nautical miles.
The enroute descent started 23 miles northwest of Isole Tremiti, Italy, and took 23 minutes to descend from 35,099 feet above sea level to 1,803 feet above sea level, a decrease of 33,295 feet. The descent covered a distance of 131 nautical miles. The final approach to runway 11 at Dubrovnik Ruđer Bošković Airport (LDDU) was made from the northwest, heading 118.0° at 4 nautical miles and 1,288 feet above ground level.
The landing on runway 11 at LDDU was successful, with a touchdown point 159 meters beyond the touchdown zone. The touchdown speed was 119 knots, which was considered good, and the touchdown rate was smooth at -104 feet per minute. However, the runway touchdown position was slightly misaligned by 4.2 meters from the centerline. The local weather conditions at the time of landing were a temperature of 9°C, with a wind speed of 7 knots at 90°.
The total landing distance was 1,401 meters, which accounted for 45% of the runway. The runway rollout alignment was very good. The taxiing period from the runway to the parking took 2 minutes and covered a distance of less than 1 nautical mile. The total flight distance was 989 nautical miles, and the flight duration was 157 minutes. The aircraft used 5,485 kilograms of fuel during the flight.
The Airbus A319 successfully landed at LDDU Dubrovnik Ruđer Bošković Airport, achieving a high score of 97.7%. The aircraft approached the runway from the north-west, heading 118.0° at a distance of 4 nautical miles and an altitude of 1,288 feet above ground level (agl). The final approach was executed with precision, and the aircraft landed smoothly on runway 11, which has a length of 3,142 meters.
The threshold height was good, indicating that the aircraft was at the correct altitude as it approached the runway. The threshold speed of 133 knots was also within the acceptable range, demonstrating the pilot's skill in managing the aircraft's speed during the landing. The touchdown point was 159 meters beyond the touchdown zone, which is a relatively minor deviation. The touchdown speed of 119 knots was also good, and the touchdown rate of -104 feet per minute (fpm) was smooth, indicating a controlled descent.
The local weather conditions at the time of the landing were favorable, with a temperature of 9°C and a wind speed of 7 knots at 90°. The crosswind component was minimal at 3 knots, while the headwind component was 6 knots, which helped to stabilize the aircraft during the landing. The total landing distance of 1,401 meters was 45% of the runway length, which is a relatively short distance considering the aircraft's size and weight.
The runway rollout alignment was very good, indicating that the pilot maintained control of the aircraft during the post-landing phase. The slight misalignment of 4.2 meters from the centerline was minor and did not pose any significant issues. Overall, the landing was executed with precision and control, demonstrating the pilot's expertise and the aircraft's capabilities.
