Work on the flare
Arrive slow and the sink rate at the threshold is already above schedule, the flare is short because there is no energy to extend it, and the touchdown is hard in a way that feels exactly like a late flare. Diagnosing a slow arrival as a late flare is the catastrophic misread: you respond by flaring earlier, which bleeds more speed, which makes the next one worse. The tiebreaker is threshold speed against VRef, not feel. Never diagnose a flare without it.

The threshold, the flare and the hold-off. The approach that led to it is the stabilisation gates below.
Two stabilised approach gates, each with seven checks, where the approach path is 1,000 ft and 500 ft above the runway. They are the approach's score: the checks passed out of the checks that ran.
The approach, gate by gate
Side view — the last 5,000 ft of the approach.
Plan view — the first 5,000 ft of the 11,467 ft runway, to the same scale as the side view.
The 799 ft touchdown sits inside the full-score zone. The 2.55 G arrival is the firm side of smooth.
The rest of the report
The Boeing 737-700 taxied from the parking area to runway 29R at KTUS Tucson International Airport, a movement that required 10 minutes and covered 1 nm.
During the departure roll on runway 29R, the aircraft used a takeoff distance of 5,203 ft, representing 44 % of the runway, and achieved liftoff at 136 kt. Ambient conditions were a temperature of 76 °F, wind 2 kt from 15°, with a 1 kt crosswind component and a 1 kt headwind.
The climb commenced overhead KTUS, climbing from 3,571 ft asl to 22,002 ft asl, an altitude gain of 18,431 ft achieved in 9 minutes while covering 48 nm.
The first cruise segment began 8 miles south of Cactus Forest, lasted 3 minutes and spanned 17 nm at level flight.
Descent phase one started 1 mile east of Blackwater, descending from 21,834 ft asl to 4,015 ft asl, a loss of 17,819 ft in 8 minutes and covering 38 nm.
A second cruise interval was initiated 3 miles south-east of Fountain Hills, persisted for 3 minutes and encompassed 8 nm.
The subsequent descent began 2 miles north of Mesa, dropping from 3,580 ft asl to 2,256 ft asl, a reduction of 1,325 ft over 3 minutes and covering 7 nm.
On final approach to runway 26 at KPHX Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport, the aircraft descended from 1,297 ft agl to 61 ft agl in 103 seconds, with the approach noted as scored on the stabilisation gates. Weather at the time was a temperature of 78 °F, wind 1 kt from 282°, with no crosswind and a 1 kt headwind.
Landing on runway 26 was executed with a threshold speed of 130 kt, touchdown occurring at 129 kt and 803 ft down the runway. The touchdown rate was minus 589 fpm, and the alignment was very good. The total landing distance recorded was 3,250 ft, representing 28 % of the runway length of 11,467 ft.
Runway rollout alignment was very good as the aircraft decelerated and exited the runway.
In total, the flight covered 126 nm, required 36 minutes of elapsed time, and consumed 3,353 lbs of fuel.
The Boeing 737-700 executed a stabilised approach at the 1,000 ft gate, with gear, flaps, sink rate, glideslope, centreline and speed all within limits, and the descent from 1,297 ft AGL to 61 ft AGL was completed in 103 seconds on final to runway 26 at KPHX.
At threshold the height was reported as good and the threshold speed was good at 130 kt, indicating the aircraft was correctly configured for landing.
Touchdown occurred 803 ft down the runway, with a touchdown speed of 129 kt that was noted as a little fast and a very hard touchdown rate of minus 589 fpm, while runway touchdown alignment was very good.
The aircraft rolled out over a total landing distance of 3,250 ft, representing 28 % of the 11,467-ft runway, and rollout alignment was very good; ambient conditions were 78 °F with a 1-kt wind from 282°, crosswind 0 kt and headwind 1 kt.
To refine the already strong performance reflected by the 91.3 % score, reduce the final approach speed slightly to bring touchdown speed closer to the target and adjust flare timing to soften the touchdown rate while maintaining the same aim point.
