Avoid steep turns at low altitude
Below a thousand feet the aeroplane is slow, heavy and close to the ground. A steep turn loses lift, raises the stall speed and flattens the climb just when the gradient matters most. A normal turn on course is a rate one — fifteen degrees or so, twenty-five at the outside, this penalty is to acknowledge when a turn has stopped being a turn and become a manoeuvre.

The threshold, the flare and the hold-off. The approach that led to it is the stabilisation gates below.
Two stabilised approach gates, each with seven checks, where the approach path is 1,000 ft and 500 ft above the runway.
The approach, gate by gate
Side view — the last 5,000 ft of the approach.
Plan view — the first 5,000 ft of the 8,346 ft runway, to the same scale as the side view.
The 1,070 ft touchdown sits inside the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
The flight began with the Vision Jet taxiing from the parking area to the runway at SAVC General E. Mosconi Airport, taking 7 minutes and covering a distance of 3 nautical miles. The departure roll took place on runway 25, with a takeoff distance of 2,040 feet, which accounted for 22% of the runway. The liftoff speed was 93 knots.
As the aircraft took to the skies, it encountered local weather conditions of 68°F temperature and a wind speed of 17 knots at 249°. The crosswind was 3 knots, while the headwind was 17 knots. The enroute climb started overhead SAVC General E. Mosconi Airport, with the aircraft ascending from 1,073 feet above sea level to 26,863 feet above sea level, a total increase of 25,791 feet in 18 minutes and covering a distance of 51 nautical miles.
The enroute level cruise began 43 miles north of SAQQ Sarmiento Airport, lasting 29 minutes and covering a distance of 141 nautical miles. The enroute descent started 30 miles west of SA45 Frias Airport, with the aircraft descending from 26,783 feet above sea level to 1,700 feet above sea level, a total decrease of 25,083 feet in 22 minutes and covering a distance of 85 nautical miles.
The final approach to runway 25 at SAVT Almirante Marco Andres Zar Airport was made from the east, heading 249.0° at 4 nautical miles and 1,573 feet above ground level. The landing took place on runway 25, which had a length of 8,346 feet. The threshold height was good, with a threshold speed of 86 knots. The touchdown distance was also good at 1,063 feet, with a touchdown speed of 73 knots and a touchdown rate of -226 feet per minute.
The runway touchdown alignment was perfect, and the runway rollout alignment was also perfect. The local weather conditions at the time of landing were 73°F temperature and a wind speed of 14 knots at 330°, with a crosswind of 14 knots and a headwind of 2 knots. The total landing distance was 2,161 feet, accounting for 26% of the runway. The taxiing to the parking area from the runway took 2 minutes and covered less than 1 nautical mile.
The total flight distance was 287 nautical miles, taking 80 minutes and using 582 pounds of fuel.
The Vision Jet has successfully landed at SAVT Almirante Marco Andres Zar Airport, achieving a remarkable score of 99.7%. The aircraft's final approach to runway 25 from the east, heading 249.0° at 4 nautical miles and 1,573 feet above ground level (agl), demonstrates precise control and navigation skills.
Upon landing, the Vision Jet touched down on the runway with a speed of 86 knots, which is within the acceptable threshold speed range. The touchdown distance of 1,063 feet was also satisfactory, indicating a smooth and controlled descent. The touchdown speed of 73 knots was good, and the aircraft maintained a relatively low rate of descent, averaging -226 feet per minute (fpm), which is considered fair.
The local weather conditions at the time of landing were favorable, with a temperature of 73°F and a moderate wind of 14 knots from 330°. The crosswind component was 14 knots, while the headwind component was a relatively minor 2 knots. These conditions presented a moderate challenge for the pilot, but the Vision Jet's performance was not significantly affected.
The total landing distance of 2,161 feet, which accounts for 26% of the runway length, is a testament to the aircraft's efficient design and the pilot's skillful handling. The runway touchdown alignment was perfect, indicating that the pilot maintained precise control throughout the approach and landing phases. Furthermore, the runway rollout alignment was also perfect, demonstrating the pilot's ability to smoothly transition from the landing phase to the rollout phase.
Overall, the Vision Jet's performance during this landing was exceptional, with the pilot demonstrating a high level of skill and proficiency. The aircraft's design and capabilities were well-suited to the local weather conditions, and the landing was executed with precision and control.
