Work on the flare
Arrive slow and the sink rate at the threshold is already above schedule, the flare is short because there is no energy to extend it, and the touchdown is hard in a way that feels exactly like a late flare. Diagnosing a slow arrival as a late flare is the catastrophic misread: you respond by flaring earlier, which bleeds more speed, which makes the next one worse. The tiebreaker is threshold speed against VRef, not feel. Never diagnose a flare without it.

The threshold, the flare and the hold-off. The approach that led to it is the stabilisation gates below.
One stabilised approach gate: five checks where the approach path is 500 ft above the runway. The 1,000 ft gate was not assessed, because the approach did not join final that far out.
Side view — the last 5,137 ft of the approach.
Plan view — the first 5,137 ft of the 8,313 ft runway, to the same scale as the side view.
Touched down 2,286 ft past the threshold — beyond the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
The flight began with a taxiing period from the parking to the runway, which took 10 minutes and covered a distance of 2 nautical miles. The aircraft, a Boeing 737-800, then departed from runway 27R at Philadelphia International Airport (KPHL). The takeoff distance was 87 feet, which was 1% of the runway length. The liftoff speed was 155 knots.
As the aircraft climbed out of Philadelphia International Airport, it reached an altitude of 2,986 feet above sea level (asl) after an increase of 1,925 feet in just 2 minutes, covering a distance of 6 nautical miles. The enroute climb continued, with the aircraft reaching a cruising altitude of 36,064 feet asl after climbing from 3,042 feet asl in 19 minutes, covering a distance of 120 nautical miles.
The aircraft then entered a level cruise phase, which lasted for 120 minutes and covered a distance of 860 nautical miles. This cruise phase took place 2 miles south east of Talbott Field Gerrardstown (8WV8) in West Virginia. The aircraft then began its descent, which started 3 miles south east of Broken Bow (90F) in Oklahoma. The descent from 36,083 feet asl to 8,681 feet asl took 18 minutes, covering a distance of 105 nautical miles.
The aircraft continued its descent, which started 1 mile north west of Tallows Field Celina (79TS) in Texas. The descent from 8,372 feet asl to 2,501 feet asl took 9 minutes, covering a distance of 25 nautical miles. The aircraft then entered another level cruise phase, which lasted for 2 minutes and covered a distance of 5 nautical miles.
The final approach to runway 13R at Dallas Love Field (KDAL) was made from the north west, with the aircraft heading 136.0 degrees at 4 nautical miles and 1,263 feet above ground level (agl). The landing was made on runway 13R, which had a length of 8,313 feet. The threshold height was above the target, and the threshold speed was slightly above the target at 146 knots.
The touchdown point was 919 feet beyond the touchdown zone, and the touchdown speed was a little fast at 136 knots. The touchdown rate was fair at -261 feet per minute (fpm). The runway touchdown position was slightly misaligned by 13 feet from the centreline. The total landing distance was 4,870 feet, which was 59% of the runway length. The runway rollout alignment was very good.
The taxiing period from the runway to the parking took 9 minutes and covered less than 1 nautical mile. The total flight distance was 1,140 nautical miles, and the flight took 190 minutes. The aircraft used 16,893 pounds of fuel during the flight.
The Boeing 737-800 aircraft successfully landed at Dallas Love Field (KDAL) on runway 13R. The final approach was initiated from the northwest, heading 136.0° at a distance of 4 nautical miles and an altitude of 1,263 feet above ground level (agl). The aircraft's performance during the landing was evaluated, and it scored 91.7%.
The aircraft's approach to the runway was satisfactory, with the threshold height being above the target at 61 feet agl. However, the threshold speed was slightly above the target at 146 knots. This indicates that the aircraft may have been slightly fast during the approach, which could have been a contributing factor to the subsequent touchdown speed.
Upon touchdown, the aircraft's speed was recorded at 136 knots, which was a little fast. The touchdown rate of -261 feet per minute (fpm) was considered fair. The touchdown point was 919 feet beyond the touchdown zone, which suggests that the aircraft may have been slightly long on the runway.
The runway touchdown position was slightly misaligned by 13 feet from the centerline, indicating that the aircraft may have deviated from the intended path during the landing. However, the runway rollout alignment was very good, suggesting that the aircraft's brakes were applied effectively to bring the aircraft to a stop.
The total landing distance was 4,870 feet, which accounted for 59% of the runway length. This is a relatively high percentage, indicating that the aircraft may have been slightly long on the runway. Nevertheless, the landing was considered successful, and the aircraft was able to come to a stop within a reasonable distance.
