Improve the rollout
A crosswind landing is a geometry problem. The air mass you're flying in is moving sideways across the runway, and you need your ground track down the centreline with your wheels aligned to it at the moment of contact. There are two techniques that will help, the crab and the sideslip.

The threshold, the flare and the hold-off. The approach that led to it is the stabilisation gates below.
One stabilised approach gate: five checks where the approach path is 500 ft above the runway. The 1,000 ft gate was not assessed, because the approach did not join final that far out.
Side view — the last 1,524 m of the approach.
Plan view — the first 1,524 m of the 4,001 m runway, to the same scale as the side view.
The 187 m touchdown sits inside the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
The flight began with the aircraft, a Cessna CJ4 Citation, taxiing from the parking area to the runway at UBBB Heydar Aliyev International Airport. This process took approximately 3 minutes and covered a distance of less than 1 nautical mile. The aircraft then departed from runway 35, with a takeoff distance of 323 meters, which is 10% of the runway length. The liftoff speed was 111 knots.
As the aircraft took off, it encountered local weather conditions of -1°C temperature and a wind speed of 22 knots at 330 degrees. The crosswind component was 11 knots, while the headwind component was 19 knots. The aircraft climbed from an initial altitude of 986 feet above sea level to 9,331 feet above sea level, an increase of 8,344 feet, in just 3 minutes and covering a distance of 9 nautical miles.
The enroute climb started overhead UBBB Heydar Aliyev International Airport, Baku, and continued until the aircraft reached a cruising altitude. The enroute level cruise started 5 miles north of Buzovna, Baku City, and lasted for 2 minutes, covering a distance of 9 nautical miles. The aircraft then began its descent from 9,224 feet above sea level to 2,096 feet above sea level, a decrease of 7,128 feet, in 6 minutes and covering a distance of 18 nautical miles.
The enroute level cruise started again 5 miles south-east of Hovsan, Baku City, and lasted for 3 minutes, covering a distance of 7 nautical miles. The final approach to runway 34 at UBBB Heydar Aliyev International Airport was made from the south, with a heading of 347.0 degrees at 4 nautical miles and 1,253 feet above ground level.
The landing on runway 34 was successful, with a touchdown distance of 185 meters, which is good. The touchdown speed was 90 knots, and the touchdown rate was firm at -388 feet per minute. However, the runway touchdown position was misaligned by 13.5 meters from the centreline. The local weather conditions at the time of landing were -0°C temperature and a wind speed of 30 knots at 329 degrees, with a crosswind component of 9 knots and a headwind component of 29 knots.
The total landing distance was 431 meters, which is 11% of the runway length. The runway rollout alignment was misaligned by 23.7 meters from the centreline. The total flight distance was 47 nautical miles, and the flight duration was 19 minutes. The aircraft used 127 kilograms of fuel during the flight.
The Cessna CJ4 Citation aircraft successfully landed at UBBB Heydar Aliyev International Airport, scoring an overall grade of 85.3%. The final approach to runway 34 was initiated from the south, with the aircraft heading 347.0° at a distance of 4 nautical miles and an altitude of 1,253 feet above ground level.
Upon landing, the aircraft touched down on the runway with a speed of 104 knots, which was above the target threshold speed. This indicates that the pilot maintained a safe margin of speed during the landing, which is a crucial factor in ensuring a smooth touchdown. The touchdown distance of 185 meters was also within acceptable limits, demonstrating the pilot's ability to control the aircraft's descent and speed.
However, there were some areas for improvement during the landing. The runway touchdown position was misaligned by 13.5 meters from the centerline, which may have been due to factors such as wind or pilot error. Additionally, the runway rollout alignment was also misaligned by 23.7 meters from the centerline, which could have been caused by the pilot's difficulty in maintaining a straight course during the rollout phase.
The local weather conditions at the time of the landing were characterized by a temperature of -0°C and a wind speed of 30 knots from 329°. This resulted in a crosswind of 9 knots and a headwind of 29 knots, which may have affected the aircraft's performance during the landing. Despite these challenging conditions, the pilot was able to maintain control of the aircraft and execute a safe landing.
Overall, the landing was considered good, with a touchdown speed of 90 knots and a firm touchdown rate of -388 feet per minute. The total landing distance of 431 meters was also within acceptable limits, accounting for only 11% of the runway length. However, the misalignments during the touchdown and rollout phases highlight areas for improvement in the pilot's technique and decision-making.
