Flight Score
Improve the touchdown
There are several things that can go wrong during the flare, carrying too much speed over the threshold, starting the flare at the wrong height and inconsistent flight control inputs, all contribute to a poor flare resulting in a hard touchdown or a float down the runway.

The threshold, the flare and the hold-off. The approach that led to it is the stabilisation gates below.
One stabilised approach gate: five checks where the approach path is 500 ft above the runway. The 1,000 ft gate was not assessed, because the approach did not join final that far out.
The approach, gate by gate
Side view — the last 1,524 m of the approach.
Plan view — the full 1,524 m runway, to the same scale as the side view.
Touched down 547 m past the threshold — beyond the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
The Pilatus PC-24 (N971LY) taxied to runway 28 at Block Island State Airport (KBID) and commenced the departure roll, using 427 m of runway which represented 57 % of the available length. The aircraft lifted off at 111 kt under a temperature of 26 °C, with a wind from 309° at 10 kt, a 7 kt headwind component and a 7 kt cross-wind component.
Climb began approximately one mile west of New Shoreham, Rhode Island, with the airplane accelerating from 1,150 ft asl to 2,724 ft asl. In one minute the aircraft gained 1,574 ft while covering 4 nm.
Level cruise was established five miles west of KBID and continued for three minutes, during which the flight covered 13 nm at a steady altitude.
The final approach to Montauk, New York, was flown from one nautical mile out at 450 ft agl, with the aircraft maintaining the approach path to the runway threshold.
Descent from the final approach segment reduced altitude from 54 ft agl to ground level in eight seconds, a vertical change of 54 ft.
Touchdown occurred over Montauk at a speed of 114 kt, with a vertical speed of minus 170 fpm. The aircraft contacted the ground 125 m beyond the designated touchdown zone.
Rollout continued on the runway for a distance of 862 m, after which the aircraft decelerated to a stop.
Taxi-in from the runway to the parking area took less than one minute and covered less than one nautical mile.
In total, the flight covered 19 nm, lasted 5 minutes, and consumed 61 kg of fuel.
The Pilatus PC-24 N971LY conducted the final approach to Montauk from 1 nm to 1 nm at 450 ft agl, with local temperature 26 °C, wind 10 kt from 309°, a 9 kt crosswind component and a 5 kt headwind component.
During the threshold and flare the aircraft descended from 54 ft agl to 0 ft agl, a decrease of 54 ft in 8 seconds.
Touchdown occurred at a speed of 114 kt and a vertical rate of minus 170 fpm; the touchdown point was 125 m beyond the touchdown zone.
The rollout continued at 0 ft asl and covered a distance of 862 m.
To improve the score of 62.6 %, focus on achieving the designated touchdown zone by refining the flare timing and aiming point, which will reduce the 125 m overshoot observed. Adjusting the approach path to place the aircraft closer to the zone will also help align the rollout distance with expectations.
