MY FS FLIGHTS
Flight Score
Slow down before tight turns
Twenty knots on a monitor produces the visual sensation of about ten. The advice to "taxi at a walking pace" cannot fix this, because your sense of walking pace is exactly the thing that's broken. Put the groundspeed readout in your scan and obey it for the next fifty flights, the way a student pilot leans on the airspeed indicator before learning to read attitude.

Two stabilised approach gates, each with five checks, where the approach path is 1,000 ft and 500 ft above the runway.
The approach, gate by gate
Side view — the last 2,195 m of the approach.
Plan view — the first 2,195 m of the 2,620 m runway, to the same scale as the side view.
Touched down 669 m past the threshold — beyond the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
The Boeing 737-800 taxied from the parking area to runway 02 at LFBT Tarbes-Lourdes-Pyrénées Airport in 9 minutes, covering a distance of 2 nm.
During the departure roll on runway 02, the aircraft accelerated to a liftoff speed of 156 kt and left the ground after traveling 1,534 m, which represented 66 % of the runway length. Ambient conditions were a temperature of 27 °C, wind from 090° at 4 kt, with a 1 kt cross-wind component and a 4 kt head-wind component.
Climb commenced overhead Azereix, with the airplane ascending from 2,089 ft asl to 37,983 ft asl, an increase of 35,893 ft achieved in 21 minutes while covering 137 nm.
Level cruise began approximately 1 mile north-east of La Roche-Chalais and was maintained for 57 minutes, during which the aircraft progressed 409 nm.
Descent was initiated about 3 miles north-west of Ilfracombe, with the flight descending from 37,999 ft asl to 1,507 ft asl, a loss of 36,493 ft over 33 minutes and a distance of 157 nm.
The final approach to runway 28L at EIDW Dublin Airport was flown from the east, on a heading of 275.0°, at 4 nm and 1,281 ft agl.
Landing on runway 28L, whose length is 2,620 m, occurred with a threshold height of 69 ft agl above target and a threshold speed of 156 kt, both above the desired values. Touchdown was recorded 257 m beyond the touchdown zone at a speed of 150 kt; the vertical speed at touchdown was minus 190 fpm and the touchdown point was offset 5.4 m from the centreline. Local weather at the time was 15 °C with wind from 260° at 10 kt, a 3 kt cross-wind component and a 9 kt head-wind component.
The rollout covered a total landing distance of 2,118 m, representing 81 % of the runway, and the alignment during rollout was described as very good.
After exiting the runway, the aircraft taxied back to the parking area in 7 minutes, traversing another 2 nm.
In total, the flight covered 713nm, required 126 minutes of elapsed time, and consumed 4,668 kg of fuel.
The Boeing 737-800 on final approached runway 28L at Dublin Airport from the east on a heading of 275.0° at 4 nm and 1,281 ft agl. At the 1,000 ft gate the approach was assessed as stabilised, with gear, flaps, sink rate, glideslope and centreline all within limits.
During the threshold and flare phase the threshold height of 69 ft agl was above the target and the threshold speed was well above target at 156 kt.
Touchdown occurred 257 m beyond the touchdown zone with a speed of 150 kt, described as a little fast, and a good vertical rate of -190 fpm. The touchdown point was slightly misaligned, being 5.4 m off the centreline.
The total landing distance was 2,118 m, representing 81 % of the 2,620 m runway, and the rollout alignment was very good.
To tighten performance, reduce the approach and touchdown speeds toward their targets to avoid the excess speed of 156 kt at threshold and 150 kt at touchdown, and aim to land within the designated touchdown zone rather than 257 m beyond it. Maintaining these adjustments will help keep the already strong alignment and runway usage while moving the score closer to perfection.
