MY FS FLIGHTS
Flight Score
Know your rotation speed
A typical trainer rotates in the mid-50s of knots - a 172 at around 55 KIAS, climbing out at a Vy in the low 70s, though check your own POH rather than memorising Cessna's numbers - and the transferable rule is that Vr sits just above the stall speed in takeoff configuration. Rotate early because "it felt ready" and the aircraft lifts off inside ground effect, where induced drag is reduced, then climbs out of it into more drag. On a marginal-performance day the result is an aircraft that lifts off and then refuses to climb, sagging back towards the runway.

The threshold, the flare and the hold-off. The approach that led to it is the stabilisation gates below.
One stabilised approach gate: five checks where the approach path is 500 ft above the runway. The 1,000 ft gate was not assessed, because the approach did not join final that far out.
Side view — the last 1,524 m of the approach.
Plan view — the first 1,524 m of the 2,195 m runway, to the same scale as the side view.
The 480 m touchdown sits inside the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
The flight began with a taxiing period from the parking to the runway, which took 2 minutes and covered less than 1 nautical mile. The aircraft, a Boeing 737-600, then departed from runway 18 at HTZA Abeid Amani Karume International Airport in Zanzibar, Tanzania. The takeoff distance was 1,121 meters, which was 37% of the runway length. The liftoff speed was 143 knots, and the local weather conditions were characterized by a temperature of 33 degrees Celsius, a wind speed of 4 knots at 160 degrees, with a crosswind of 1 knot and a headwind of 4 knots.
As the aircraft climbed to a higher altitude, it began its enroute climb from 1,133 feet above sea level to 38,520 feet above sea level, an increase of 37,387 feet in 32 minutes, covering a distance of 219 nautical miles. The enroute level cruise started 99 miles northeast of Mtwara, Tanzania, and lasted for 109 minutes, covering a distance of 885 nautical miles. The aircraft then began its enroute descent from 39,001 feet above sea level to 10,150 feet above sea level, a decrease of 28,851 feet in 18 minutes, covering a distance of 137 nautical miles.
The enroute level cruise started again 42 miles northwest of Le Port, Reunion, and lasted for 3 minutes, covering less than 1 nautical mile. The aircraft then began its enroute descent from 9,973 feet above sea level to 3,255 feet above sea level, a decrease of 6,717 feet in 7 minutes, covering a distance of 29 nautical miles. The enroute level cruise started once more 13 miles north of Le Port, Reunion, and lasted for 2 minutes, covering 7 nautical miles. The aircraft then began its final descent from 2,975 feet above sea level to 1,289 feet above sea level, a decrease of 1,685 feet in 2 minutes, covering a distance of 7 nautical miles.
The final approach to runway 14 at FMEE Roland Garros Airport in Reunion was made from the west, heading 116.0 degrees at 4 nautical miles and 1,234 feet above ground level. The landing on runway 14 was successful, with a touchdown point 59 meters beyond the touchdown zone. The touchdown speed was 126 knots, which was good, and the touchdown rate was also good at -173 feet per minute. The runway touchdown position was slightly misaligned by 3.1 meters from the centerline.
The total landing distance was 939 meters, which was 43% of the runway length. The runway rollout alignment was perfect. The taxiing period from the runway to the parking took 1 minute and covered less than 1 nautical mile. The total flight distance was 1,293 nautical miles, taking 175 minutes, and the aircraft used 7,471 kilograms of fuel.
The Boeing 737-600 aircraft successfully landed at FMEE Roland Garros Airport, achieving a score of 99.7%. The final approach to runway 14 was conducted from the west, with a heading of 116.0° at a distance of 4 nautical miles and an altitude of 1,234 feet above ground level.
The aircraft touched down on the runway, with the threshold speed being slightly above the target at 137 knots. The touchdown point was 59 meters beyond the designated touchdown zone, indicating a slight deviation from the intended landing spot. However, the touchdown speed of 126 knots was within the acceptable range, and the touchdown rate of -173 feet per minute was also satisfactory.
The runway touchdown position was slightly misaligned from the centerline by 3.1 meters, which may have been due to factors such as wind or pilot error. The local weather conditions at the time of landing were favorable, with a temperature of 26°C and a gentle headwind of 7 knots from a direction of 120°. The crosswind component was negligible, at 0 knots.
The total landing distance of 939 meters was 43% of the available runway length, indicating a relatively short landing roll. The runway rollout alignment was perfect, suggesting that the aircraft was under good control during the landing phase. Overall, the landing was considered successful, with the aircraft achieving a high score and demonstrating good handling characteristics.
