MY FS FLIGHTS
Flight Score
Work on the flare
Arrive slow and the sink rate at the threshold is already above schedule, the flare is short because there is no energy to extend it, and the touchdown is hard in a way that feels exactly like a late flare. Diagnosing a slow arrival as a late flare is the catastrophic misread: you respond by flaring earlier, which bleeds more speed, which makes the next one worse. The tiebreaker is threshold speed against VRef, not feel. Never diagnose a flare without it.

The threshold, the flare and the hold-off. The approach that led to it is the stabilisation gates below.
One stabilised approach gate: five checks where the approach path is 500 ft above the runway. The 1,000 ft gate was not assessed, because the approach did not join final that far out.
Side view — the last 2,412 m of the approach.
Plan view — the first 2,412 m of the 3,474 m runway, to the same scale as the side view.
Touched down 740 m past the threshold — beyond the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
The flight in the Honda Jet began with a 4-minute taxi from the parking area to the runway at UBBB Heydar Aliyev International Airport. The departure roll took place on runway 35, with a takeoff distance of 757 meters, covering 23% of the runway. The liftoff speed was 125 knots. The local weather at the time of departure was 10°C with a wind speed of 16 knots at 10°, resulting in a crosswind of 3 knots and a headwind of 15 knots.
After departing from UBBB, the aircraft started its enroute level cruise overhead the airport, lasting less than a minute and covering less than 1 nautical mile. The enroute climb began shortly thereafter, climbing from 473 feet above sea level to 14,391 feet above sea level in 6 minutes, covering a distance of 15 nautical miles.
The enroute descent phase started 1 mile east of Corat, descending from 14,343 feet to 10,731 feet in 2 minutes, covering 5 nautical miles. The aircraft then entered another level cruise phase, lasting 2 minutes and covering 9 nautical miles, before beginning the next climb phase 4 miles southwest of UB12 Nasosnaya Air Base. This climb took the aircraft from 10,722 feet to 12,057 feet in 2 minutes, covering a distance of 10 nautical miles.
A second level cruise phase began 14 miles west of Haci Zeynalabdin, lasting 6 minutes and covering 33 nautical miles. The enroute descent started 5 miles east of Aghsu, descending from 12,051 feet to 2,376 feet in 10 minutes, covering 35 nautical miles.
The final approach to runway 34 at UBBQ Gabala International Airport was made from the south at a heading of 344.0°, 4 nautical miles and 1,242 feet above ground level. The landing itself on runway 34 was slightly above the threshold height at 59 feet above ground level, with a good threshold speed of 109 knots. The touchdown point was 312 meters beyond the touchdown zone, with a touchdown speed of 94 knots and a good touchdown rate of -156 feet per minute. The runway touchdown position was slightly misaligned by 8.0 meters from the centerline.
The total landing distance was 2,319 meters, covering 67% of the runway. The runway rollout alignment was slightly misaligned by 13.4 meters from the centerline. Finally, the taxi from the runway to the parking area took 2 minutes and covered less than 1 nautical mile. The total flight distance was 114 nautical miles, taking 39 minutes and using 306 kilograms of fuel.
Overall, the aircraft landing score of 86.3% indicates a decent performance during the landing process.
During the Approach Phase, the glideslope alignment was excellent, which is important for a smooth landing. Additionally, the threshold speed of 109 knots was good, showing that the pilot was able to maintain a suitable speed while approaching the runway.
However, there were some areas for improvement during the Landing Phase. The threshold height of 59 feet above ground level was slightly above the target, indicating that the aircraft may have descended too quickly during this phase. Additionally, the landing flare was reported as very poor, suggesting that the pilot did not execute this maneuver effectively, which can impact the smoothness of the touchdown.
In the Touchdown Phase, the touchdown rate of -156 feet per minute was good, indicating a relatively smooth landing. However, the touchdown speed of 94 knots was a little fast, which could indicate that the pilot may have misjudged the descent rate. Furthermore, the touchdown point being 312 meters beyond the touchdown zone indicates that the aircraft touched down further along the runway than intended. Additionally, the runway touchdown position being misaligned by 8.0 meters from the centerline suggests that the pilot may have struggled to maintain proper alignment during the landing.
Lastly, the warning that the aircraft landed with a 4 knot tailwind is concerning, as landing with a tailwind can make it more difficult to control the aircraft and increase the risk of a runway overrun.
Overall, there were some areas that were well executed during the landing, such as the glideslope alignment and touchdown rate. However, there are also clear areas for improvement, such as the landing flare, touchdown speed, touchdown point, and alignment during the landing. It would be beneficial for the pilot to focus on improving these aspects in order to enhance the overall quality of their landings in the future and aim for a higher landing score.
