Flight Score
Work on the flare
Arrive slow and the sink rate at the threshold is already above schedule, the flare is short because there is no energy to extend it, and the touchdown is hard in a way that feels exactly like a late flare. Diagnosing a slow arrival as a late flare is the catastrophic misread: you respond by flaring earlier, which bleeds more speed, which makes the next one worse. The tiebreaker is threshold speed against VRef, not feel. Never diagnose a flare without it.

One stabilised approach gate: five checks where the approach path is 500 ft above the runway. The 1,000 ft gate was not assessed, because the approach did not join final that far out.
The approach, gate by gate
Side view — the last 1,524 m of the approach.
Plan view — the first 1,524 m of the 3,195 m runway, to the same scale as the side view.
Touched down 630 m past the threshold — beyond the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
The flight began with the aircraft, a Black Square Starship N45FL, taxiing from the parking area to the runway at Princess Juliana International Airport, located on the island of Saint Martin. This taxiing process took 13 minutes and covered a distance of 1 nautical mile. The aircraft then departed from runway 10, with a takeoff distance of 921 meters, which was 40% of the runway's length. The liftoff speed was 115 knots.
As the aircraft took off, it encountered local weather conditions, with a temperature of 30 degrees Celsius and a wind speed of 15 knots at a direction of 90 degrees. This resulted in a crosswind of 2 knots and a headwind of 15 knots. The aircraft climbed from an initial altitude of 649 feet above sea level to a maximum altitude of 36,386 feet above sea level, an increase of 35,736 feet, in 22 minutes and covering a distance of 67 nautical miles.
The enroute climb started 1 mile south of Marigot, a town located on the island of Saint Martin, and continued until the aircraft reached its cruising altitude. The enroute level cruise then began 7 miles south of Fig Tree, a town located on the island of Saint Kitts, and lasted for 190 minutes, covering a distance of 836 nautical miles.
As the aircraft approached its destination, it started its enroute descent 22 miles north of Mana, a town located in French Guiana. The descent from 36,412 feet above sea level to 2,516 feet above sea level, a decrease of 33,896 feet, took 25 minutes and covered a distance of 109 nautical miles. The aircraft then leveled off and began its final approach to runway 08 at SOCA Cayenne – Félix Eboué Airport, located in French Guiana.
The final approach was made from the southwest, heading 65.0 degrees, at an altitude of 1,261 feet above ground level and a distance of 4 nautical miles from the runway. The aircraft landed on runway 08, which had a length of 3,195 meters. The touchdown point was 202 meters beyond the touchdown zone, with a touchdown speed of 97 knots and a touchdown rate of -252 feet per minute. The runway touchdown position was slightly misaligned by 6.3 meters from the centerline.
The local weather conditions at the time of landing were similar to those at takeoff, with a temperature of 30 degrees Celsius and a wind speed of 4 knots at a direction of 82 degrees. This resulted in a crosswind of 1 knot and a headwind of 4 knots. The total landing distance was 1,301 meters, which was 41% of the runway's length. The runway rollout alignment was very good.
After landing, the aircraft taxiied to the parking area, taking 4 minutes and covering a distance of less than 1 nautical mile. The total flight distance was 1,027 nautical miles, and the flight duration was 252 minutes. The aircraft used 992 kilograms of fuel during the flight.
The aircraft, Black Square Starship N45FL, successfully landed at SOCA Cayenne – Félix Eboué Airport, achieving a score of 91.1%. The final approach to runway 08 was initiated from the south west, with a heading of 65.0° at a distance of 4 nautical miles and an altitude of 1,261 feet above ground level.
The landing was executed with good threshold height and speed, reaching 113 knots at the threshold. The touchdown point was 202 meters beyond the designated touchdown zone, which is a relatively minor deviation. The touchdown speed of 97 knots was also within acceptable limits, indicating a smooth and controlled descent.
However, the touchdown rate of -252 feet per minute was only fair, suggesting that the aircraft could have been brought down more gently. Additionally, the runway touchdown position was slightly misaligned by 6.3 meters from the centerline, which may have been due to a slight deviation in the approach or landing.
The local weather conditions at the time of landing were favorable, with a temperature of 30°C and a gentle wind of 4 knots at 82°. The crosswind was minimal at 1 knot, while the headwind was 4 knots, which helped to stabilize the aircraft during the approach.
The total landing distance of 1,301 meters was 41% of the runway length, indicating a relatively short landing roll. The runway rollout alignment was very good, suggesting that the pilot maintained control of the aircraft during the rollout phase.
Overall, the landing was successful, but there is room for improvement in terms of touchdown rate and alignment with the centerline.
