Improve the taxi
Twenty knots on a monitor produces the visual sensation of about ten. The advice to "taxi at a walking pace" cannot fix this, because your sense of walking pace is exactly the thing that's broken. Put the groundspeed readout in your scan and obey it for the next fifty flights, the way a student pilot leans on the airspeed indicator before learning to read attitude.

The threshold, the flare and the hold-off. The approach that led to it is the stabilisation gates below.
One stabilised approach gate: five checks where the approach path is 500 ft above the runway. The 1,000 ft gate was not assessed, because the approach did not join final that far out.
The approach, gate by gate
Side view — the last 5,000 ft of the approach.
Plan view — the first 5,000 ft of the 5,092 ft runway, to the same scale as the side view.
The 552 ft touchdown sits inside the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
The flight began with the Black Square Starship N786BP taxiing from the parking area to the runway at KSBA Santa Barbara Municipal Airport. This process took 12 minutes and covered a distance of 3 nautical miles. The aircraft then departed from runway 25, with a takeoff distance of 4,092 feet, which was 68% of the runway length. The liftoff speed was 115 knots.
As the aircraft took off, it encountered local weather conditions of a temperature of 72°F and a wind speed of 9 knots at 180°. The crosswind was 9 knots, while the headwind was 0 knots. After departing from the airport, the aircraft began its enroute climb, starting 1 mile northwest of Isla Vista, California. The climb took 16 minutes and covered a distance of 52 nautical miles, with the aircraft rising from an altitude of 1,037 feet above sea level to 31,421 feet.
Following the climb, the aircraft entered a level cruise phase, which started 17 miles south of KNTD Point Mugu Naval Air Station in California. This phase lasted for 29 minutes and covered a distance of 330 nautical miles. The aircraft then began its enroute descent, starting 8 miles southeast of Buckeye, Arizona. The descent took 8 minutes and covered a distance of 38 nautical miles, with the aircraft dropping from an altitude of 31,731 feet to 1,802 feet.
The aircraft then began another climb, starting 1 mile southeast of KFFZ Falcon Field in Arizona. This climb took 3 minutes and covered a distance of 2 nautical miles, with the aircraft rising from an altitude of 1,820 feet to 1,578 feet. The aircraft then began its final approach to runway 04R at KFFZ Falcon Field, approaching from the southwest at a heading of 51.0° and an altitude of 208 feet above ground level.
The aircraft landed on runway 04R, which had a length of 5,092 feet. The threshold height was good, and the threshold speed was also satisfactory at 103 knots. The touchdown distance was 552 feet, and the touchdown speed was 98 knots, which was good. The touchdown rate was smooth at -108 feet per minute, and the runway touchdown alignment was very good. The local weather conditions remained the same, with a temperature of 72°F.
After landing, the aircraft taxied to the parking area, taking 1 minute and covering a distance of less than 1 nautical mile. The total flight distance was 427 nautical miles, and the flight duration was 65 minutes. The aircraft used 1,157 pounds of fuel during the flight.
The aircraft, Black Square Starship N786BP, successfully completed a flawless landing at KFFZ Falcon Field, achieving a perfect score of 100.0%. The final approach to runway 04R was initiated from the southwest, with the aircraft heading 51.0° at a distance of 1 nautical mile and an altitude of 208 feet above ground level (agl).
As the aircraft descended onto the runway, it demonstrated excellent control and precision, touching down smoothly at a speed of 98 knots. The touchdown distance of 552 feet was well within the acceptable range, and the aircraft maintained a stable and controlled descent throughout the landing. The threshold speed of 103 knots was also well-managed, indicating a high degree of pilot skill and experience.
The local weather conditions at the time of the landing were favorable, with a temperature of 72°F. This allowed the aircraft to maintain a stable and efficient flight path, contributing to the successful outcome of the landing. The total landing distance of 2,289 feet was only 45% of the runway length, demonstrating the aircraft's excellent braking performance and the pilot's ability to control the aircraft's speed and descent rate.
Upon touchdown, the aircraft maintained perfect runway rollout alignment, indicating a high degree of control and precision. This is a critical aspect of landing, as it ensures the aircraft remains on the centerline of the runway and avoids any potential hazards or obstacles. Overall, the landing was a textbook example of a well-executed and safe arrival, with the aircraft and pilot demonstrating exceptional skill and control throughout the entire process.
