Work on the flare
Arrive slow and the sink rate at the threshold is already above schedule, the flare is short because there is no energy to extend it, and the touchdown is hard in a way that feels exactly like a late flare. Diagnosing a slow arrival as a late flare is the catastrophic misread: you respond by flaring earlier, which bleeds more speed, which makes the next one worse. The tiebreaker is threshold speed against VRef, not feel. Never diagnose a flare without it.

Two stabilised approach gates, each with six checks at 1,000 ft and 500 ft above the runway.
The approach, gate by gate
Side view — the last 1,524 m of the approach.
Plan view — the first 1,524 m of the 2,737 m runway, to the same scale as the side view.
Touched down 813 m past the threshold — beyond the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
Departing from Glasgow Prestwick Airport (EGPK), the aircraft began its taxiing process from the parking area to the runway, completing the journey in under a minute and covering a distance of less than one nautical mile. With the runway 30 cleared for departure, the aircraft initiated its takeoff roll, utilizing 223 meters, or 8% of the runway's length. The liftoff speed of 60 knots was achieved, and the aircraft began its ascent into the local skies.
As the aircraft climbed to a higher altitude, it transitioned into the enroute phase, commencing its ascent from 601 feet above sea level to 269 feet above sea level, an increase of 333 feet in just one minute, while covering a distance of less than one nautical mile. The climb was initiated overhead Monkton, a location in South Ayrshire, Scotland. The aircraft then began its descent, aligning itself for a final approach to runway 12 at EGPK, with a heading of 118.0 degrees at an altitude of 205 feet above ground level and a distance of zero nautical miles from the runway.
Upon landing, the aircraft touched down 383 meters beyond the touchdown zone, with a touchdown speed of 35 knots, which was within the target range. The touchdown rate of -12 feet per minute was also satisfactory. However, the runway touchdown position was slightly misaligned by 4.5 meters from the centerline. The total landing distance of 1,027 meters, or 38% of the runway's length, was within acceptable limits. Following the landing, the aircraft taxied to the parking area, completing a total flight distance of three nautical miles, which took approximately three minutes to accomplish, and utilized zero kilograms of fuel.
The final approach to runway 12 at EGPK Glasgow Prestwick Airport from the north west was initiated at 0 nm and 205 ft above ground level, heading 118.0°. The approach quality was satisfactory, with a threshold height of 80 ft above ground level, well above the target. This resulted in a slightly higher than ideal approach path angle, which may have affected the subsequent touchdown characteristics.
The aircraft touched down 383 meters beyond the touchdown zone, at a speed of 35 kt, which was within the acceptable range. The touchdown rate of -12 fpm was perfect, indicating a smooth and controlled touchdown. However, the runway touchdown position was slightly misaligned by 4.5 meters from the centreline, which may have been due to a slight deviation in the approach path or a minor control input during the final stages of the approach. The local weather conditions, with a temperature of 15 °C and a wind of 1 kt at 270°, contributed to a negligible crosswind and tailwind component.
The total landing distance of 1,027 meters, which accounted for 38% of the runway length, was within the acceptable range. The runway rollout alignment was very good, indicating a smooth and controlled deceleration phase. Overall, the landing performance of the aircraft, Sirius, scored 84.6%, reflecting a satisfactory approach and touchdown, but with minor deviations in terms of touchdown position and threshold height.
