MY FS FLIGHTS
Flight Score
Work on the flare
Arrive slow and the sink rate at the threshold is already above schedule, the flare is short because there is no energy to extend it, and the touchdown is hard in a way that feels exactly like a late flare. Diagnosing a slow arrival as a late flare is the catastrophic misread: you respond by flaring earlier, which bleeds more speed, which makes the next one worse. The tiebreaker is threshold speed against VRef, not feel. Never diagnose a flare without it.

The threshold, the flare and the hold-off. The approach that led to it is the stabilisation gates below.
Two stabilised approach gates, each with five checks, where the approach path is 1,000 ft and 500 ft above the runway.
The approach, gate by gate
Side view — the last 1,524 m of the approach.
Plan view — the first 1,524 m of the 2,395 m runway, to the same scale as the side view.
The 415 m touchdown sits inside the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
Departing from Hamburg Helmut Schmidt Airport (EDDH), the A400M aircraft began its journey by taxiing from the parking area to the runway, a process that took approximately 8 minutes and covered a distance of 1 nautical mile. With a strong headwind of 33 knots and a crosswind of 12 knots, the aircraft took off from runway 23, utilizing 27% of the 2,759-meter runway to achieve liftoff at a speed of 167 knots.
As the aircraft climbed away from Hamburg, it began its enroute climb 1 mile northwest of Winterhude, Germany, at an altitude of 1,018 feet above sea level. The climb was steep, with the aircraft ascending to 32,337 feet in just 13 minutes, covering a distance of 73 nautical miles. The aircraft then leveled off for a brief period, cruising at an altitude of 32,179 feet before beginning its descent 3 miles northeast of Kirchdorf, Germany. The descent was gradual, with the aircraft decreasing its altitude by 28,804 feet in 19 minutes, covering a distance of 99 nautical miles.
The aircraft continued its descent, eventually starting its final approach to runway 23L at Düsseldorf Airport (EDDL) from the northeast. However, a go-around was initiated at an altitude of 101 feet above ground level. The aircraft subsequently landed on runway 23L, utilizing 50% of the 2,395-meter runway. The touchdown distance was good, at 390 meters, and the touchdown speed was also within acceptable limits, at 116 knots. The aircraft then taxied to the parking area, a process that took approximately 1 minute and covered a distance of less than 1 nautical mile. The total flight distance was 254 nautical miles, and the aircraft used 3,723 kilograms of fuel during the flight, which lasted a total of 64 minutes.
The final approach to runway 23L at EDDL Düsseldorf Airport from the north east was executed with a heading of 233.0° at 4 nm and 1,256 ft above ground level. The approach quality was satisfactory, with a threshold height of 71 ft agl, which was well above the target. The threshold speed of 121 kt was good, indicating a well-controlled descent.
As the aircraft touched down on the runway, the touchdown distance of 390 m was within acceptable limits. The touchdown speed of 116 kt was also good, suggesting a smooth and controlled touchdown. However, the touchdown rate of -747 fpm was very heavy, indicating a high rate of descent at touchdown. Despite this, the runway touchdown alignment was very good, with the aircraft centered on the runway. The local weather conditions, with a temperature of 15°C and a wind of 1 kt at 269°, contributed to a relatively calm and stable environment.
The total landing distance of 1,206 m, which accounted for 50% of the runway length, was within acceptable limits. The runway rollout alignment was very good, with the aircraft maintaining its centerline alignment throughout the rollout phase. Overall, the landing performance was satisfactory, with a score of 89.2%. While there were some areas for improvement, such as the heavy touchdown rate, the overall execution of the landing was good.
