Work on the flare
Arrive slow and the sink rate at the threshold is already above schedule, the flare is short because there is no energy to extend it, and the touchdown is hard in a way that feels exactly like a late flare. Diagnosing a slow arrival as a late flare is the catastrophic misread: you respond by flaring earlier, which bleeds more speed, which makes the next one worse. The tiebreaker is threshold speed against VRef, not feel. Never diagnose a flare without it.

One stabilised approach gate: five checks where the approach path is 500 ft above the runway. The 1,000 ft gate was not assessed, because the approach did not join final that far out.
Side view — the last 1,765 m of the approach.
Plan view — the first 1,765 m of the 3,813 m runway, to the same scale as the side view.
Touched down 670 m past the threshold — beyond the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
The flight began with a taxiing period from the parking to the runway, which took 12 minutes and covered a distance of 2 nautical miles. The aircraft, an Airbus A320, then departed from runway 01 at DTTA Tunis Carthage International Airport. The takeoff distance was 1,805 meters, which accounted for 56% of the runway. The liftoff speed was 158 knots, and the local weather conditions at the time of departure were a temperature of 21 degrees Celsius and a wind speed of 9 knots from a direction of 180 degrees.
As the aircraft climbed out of the airport, it began its enroute climb, which started 1 mile north of the airport. The climb took 24 minutes and covered a distance of 143 nautical miles, during which the aircraft ascended from an altitude of 1,049 feet above sea level to 34,605 feet above sea level, an increase of 33,556 feet. The enroute climb phase was followed by a level cruise, which began 54 miles west of San Lawrenz, Malta, and lasted for 189 minutes. During this phase, the aircraft covered a distance of 1,495 nautical miles.
As the aircraft approached its destination, it began its enroute descent, which started 82 miles southwest of Yanbu, Saudi Arabia. The descent took 23 minutes and covered a distance of 115 nautical miles, during which the aircraft descended from an altitude of 35,400 feet above sea level to 1,303 feet above sea level, a decrease of 34,097 feet. The final approach to runway 16R at OEJN King Abdulaziz International Airport was made from the north, with the aircraft heading 160.0 degrees at an altitude of 4 nautical miles and 1,267 feet above ground level.
The landing on runway 16R was successful, with the touchdown point being 276 meters beyond the touchdown zone. The touchdown speed was 127 knots, which was within the acceptable range, and the touchdown rate was also good at -164 feet per minute. However, the runway touchdown position was slightly misaligned by 5.3 meters from the centerline. The local weather conditions at the time of landing were a temperature of 30 degrees Celsius and a wind speed of 7 knots from a direction of 210 degrees.
The total landing distance was 1,707 meters, which accounted for 45% of the runway. The runway rollout alignment was very good, indicating a smooth and controlled landing. The taxiing period from the runway to the parking took 9 minutes and covered a distance of 1 nautical mile. The total flight distance was 1,763 nautical miles, and the flight duration was 250 minutes. The aircraft used a total of 10,433 kilograms of fuel during the flight.
The Airbus A320 successfully landed at OEJN King Abdulaziz International Airport, achieving a high score of 96.2%. The aircraft was approaching the runway from the north, heading 160.0° at a distance of 4 nautical miles and an altitude of 1,267 feet above ground level (agl). The final approach was conducted with good control, and the aircraft touched down on runway 16R, which has a length of 3,813 meters.
The threshold height was satisfactory, and the threshold speed was maintained at 137 knots, indicating a smooth and controlled descent. The touchdown point was located 276 meters beyond the touchdown zone, which is slightly beyond the ideal position but still within acceptable limits. The touchdown speed of 127 knots was also good, and the touchdown rate of -164 feet per minute (fpm) was within the desired range.
The local weather conditions at the time of landing were characterized by a temperature of 30°C and a wind speed of 7 knots from 210°. The crosswind component was 6 knots, while the headwind component was 5 knots. Despite these conditions, the aircraft maintained good control and alignment during the landing.
The total landing distance was 1,707 meters, which is 45% of the runway length. This is a relatively short landing distance, indicating that the aircraft was well-controlled and the pilot executed the landing smoothly. The runway rollout alignment was also very good, demonstrating the pilot's skill and control during the landing phase.
Overall, the landing was successful, and the aircraft scored high marks for its performance. The pilot's ability to maintain control and alignment in challenging weather conditions was particularly noteworthy, and the aircraft's handling characteristics were demonstrated to be excellent.
