Tunis Carthage International Airport (DTTA/TUN) is Tunisia's principal gateway, lying close to the capital and serving as the main base for Tunisair. With two long paved runways and full ILS coverage, it is a straightforward, well-equipped destination for simulator pilots flying international or regional routes into North Africa.
Tunis Carthage International Airport serves Tunis, the capital of Tunisia, and is managed by the Office of Civil Aviation and Airports (OACA). It functions as the principal hub for Tunisair, alongside other Tunisian carriers such as Nouvelair Tunisia, Tunisair Express and Sevenair, making it a natural focal point for pilots flying to or from Tunisia in the simulator.
The airport sits in the Gouvernorat de Tunis at coordinates 36.8511 N, 10.2269 E, at an elevation of 16 feet, close to the city of Tunis itself. It is described as lying around 8 kilometres northeast of the city centre.
Tunis Carthage has two physical runways. Runway 01/19 is a hard-surfaced, lit strip of roughly 10,511 feet (01) and 10,510 feet (19), with ILS available on both directions. Runway 11/29 is also hard-surfaced and lit, with a landing distance of about 9,334 feet on runway 11 and 8,674 feet on runway 29; runway 29 additionally offers an ILS approach.
Tunis Approach operates on 121.2 MHz, with Tunis ATIS broadcasting on 118.675 MHz. The common traffic frequency (CTAF) is 118.5 MHz. On the ground, Tunis Ground works on 121.9 MHz and Tunis Tower on 118.1 MHz. ILS approaches are available for runways 01, 19 and 29.
Tunis Carthage remains a busy international airport and the principal base for Tunisair, with services also operated by Nouvelair Tunisia, Tunisair Express and Sevenair. It is managed by the Office of Civil Aviation and Airports (OACA).
