Work on the flare
Arrive slow and the sink rate at the threshold is already above schedule, the flare is short because there is no energy to extend it, and the touchdown is hard in a way that feels exactly like a late flare. Diagnosing a slow arrival as a late flare is the catastrophic misread: you respond by flaring earlier, which bleeds more speed, which makes the next one worse. The tiebreaker is threshold speed against VRef, not feel. Never diagnose a flare without it.

The threshold, the flare and the hold-off. The approach that led to it is the stabilisation gates below.
One stabilised approach gate: seven checks where the approach path is 300 ft above the runway. The 1,000 ft gate was not assessed, because the approach did not join final that far out. These checks are the approach's score.
At the 300 ft gate: centreline 1.7° off, against a 1° limit.
The approach, gate by gate
Side view — the last 520 m of the approach.
Plan view — the full 520 m runway, to the same scale as the side view.
The 91 m touchdown sits inside the full-score zone. The 1.89 G arrival is the firm side of smooth.
The rest of the report
Departing Méribel Altiport (LFKX), the Kodiak 100 aircraft began its takeoff roll on runway 33. The aircraft accelerated to liftoff speed of 75 kt, achieving liftoff in a distance of 329 meters, which accounted for 81% of the available runway length. The local weather conditions at the time of departure featured a temperature of 8 °C, with a gentle wind blowing at 7 kt from a direction of 283°. The crosswind component was 5 kt, while the headwind component was 4 kt.
As the aircraft transitioned to the enroute phase, it began its initial climb overhead Meribel, Auvergne-Rhone-Alpes, France. The climb profile saw the aircraft ascend from an initial altitude of 5,903 ft asl to 8,065 ft asl, a vertical gain of 2,163 ft, achieved in just 1 minute and covering a horizontal distance of 2 nm. Following a brief enroute descent, the aircraft began its final approach to runway 22 at Courchevel Altiport (LFLJ), approaching from the north east at a heading of 222.0°. The aircraft touched down before the threshold, with a touchdown speed of 56 kt and a touchdown rate of 252 fpm, both of which were considered satisfactory. The runway touchdown position was slightly misaligned, deviating 6.3 meters from the centerline.
The landing distance of 222 meters accounted for 41% of the available runway length. The aircraft's rollout alignment was good, indicating a smooth and controlled deceleration. The total flight distance was 9 nm, with a flight time of 6 minutes and a fuel consumption of 13 kg. The local weather conditions at the time of landing were similar to those at departure, with a temperature of 8 °C and a wind blowing at 7 kt from a direction of 283°.
The final approach to runway 22 at LFLJ Courchevel Altiport was initiated from the north east, heading 222.0° at 1 nm and 282 ft above ground level. The approach quality was satisfactory, with a steady descent rate and a stable airspeed. The aircraft touched down before the threshold, indicating a good flare and touchdown speed of 56 kt. The touchdown rate of 252 fpm was perfect, demonstrating precise control and a smooth touchdown.
Upon touchdown, the aircraft was slightly misaligned with the centreline by 6.3 m, which was a minor deviation from the ideal touchdown position. However, the runway rollout alignment was very good, indicating a smooth and controlled deceleration. The local weather conditions, with a temperature of 8°C and a wind of 7 kt at 283°, contributed to a relatively calm and stable environment for the landing. The crosswind component of 6 kt and headwind component of 4 kt were well within manageable limits.
The total landing distance of 222 m was 41% of the runway length, which was a respectable performance considering the aircraft's size and weight. Overall, the landing was scored 95.1%, reflecting a high level of proficiency and control throughout the approach, touchdown, and rollout phases.
