MY FS FLIGHTS
Flight Score
Work on the flare
Arrive slow and the sink rate at the threshold is already above schedule, the flare is short because there is no energy to extend it, and the touchdown is hard in a way that feels exactly like a late flare. Diagnosing a slow arrival as a late flare is the catastrophic misread: you respond by flaring earlier, which bleeds more speed, which makes the next one worse. The tiebreaker is threshold speed against VRef, not feel. Never diagnose a flare without it.

The threshold, the flare and the hold-off. The approach that led to it is the stabilisation gates below.
One stabilised approach gate: five checks where the approach path is 500 ft above the runway. The 1,000 ft gate was not assessed, because the approach did not join final that far out.
Side view — the last 2,016 m of the approach.
Plan view — the first 2,016 m of the 3,777 m runway, to the same scale as the side view.
Touched down 786 m past the threshold — beyond the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
The flight began with a taxiing period from the parking to the runway, which took 18 minutes and covered a distance of 9 nautical miles. The aircraft, a Cessna CJ4 Citation, then departed from runway 20 at WBKK Kota Kinabalu International Airport. The takeoff distance was 667 meters, which accounted for 19% of the runway. The liftoff speed was 124 knots, and the local weather conditions at the time of departure were a temperature of 29°C, with a wind speed of 5 knots at 220°.
As the aircraft took off, it began its enroute climb, which started overhead WBKK Kota Kinabalu International Airport. The climb took 14 minutes and covered a distance of 84 nautical miles, during which the aircraft ascended from 1,199 feet above sea level to 37,509 feet above sea level, an increase of 36,310 feet. The enroute level cruise then started 2 miles west of Mentiri, Brunei, and lasted for 64 minutes, covering a distance of 248 nautical miles.
The enroute descent started 22 miles northwest of Sibu, Malaysia, and took 18 minutes to descend from 36,993 feet above sea level to 2,309 feet above sea level, a decrease of 34,685 feet. The descent covered a distance of 88 nautical miles. The aircraft then entered another enroute level cruise, which started 13 miles east of Kuching, Malaysia, and lasted for 3 minutes, covering a distance of 8 nautical miles.
The final approach to runway 25 at WBGG Kuching International Airport was made from the east, with a heading of 249.0° at 4 nautical miles and 1,240 feet above ground level. The landing was made on runway 25, which had a length of 3,777 meters. The threshold height at 68 feet above ground level was above the target, but the threshold speed was good at 109 knots. The touchdown point was 478 meters beyond the touchdown zone, and the touchdown speed was 97 knots, which was good. The touchdown rate was smooth at -133 feet per minute.
The runway touchdown position was slightly misaligned by 7.1 meters from the centreline, and the runway rollout alignment was misaligned by 26.9 meters from the centreline. The local weather conditions at the time of landing were a temperature of 25°C, with a wind speed of 10 knots at 170°. The crosswind was 10 knots, and the headwind was 2 knots. The total landing distance was 2,044 meters, which accounted for 54% of the runway.
The taxiing period from the runway to the parking took 2 minutes and covered a distance of less than 1 nautical mile. The total flight distance was 443 nautical miles, and the flight duration was 78 minutes. The aircraft used 94 kilograms of fuel during the flight.
The Cessna CJ4 Citation aircraft successfully landed at WBGG Kuching International Airport, but with some minor deviations from the ideal landing parameters. The final approach was initiated from the east, heading 249.0° at a distance of 4 nautical miles and an altitude of 1,240 feet above ground level (agl). The aircraft maintained a good speed of 109 knots during the approach, which is considered within the target threshold speed.
However, the threshold height at 68 feet agl was above the target, indicating that the aircraft may have been slightly higher than desired at the point of touchdown. Despite this, the touchdown speed of 97 knots was good, and the touchdown rate of -133 feet per minute (fpm) was smooth, indicating a controlled descent.
The touchdown point was 478 meters beyond the touchdown zone, which is a significant deviation from the ideal landing spot. This may have been due to the aircraft being slightly misaligned with the runway centerline, as the runway touchdown position was off by 7.1 meters. The local weather conditions, with a temperature of 25°C and a wind speed of 10 knots at 170°, may have also contributed to the deviation.
The total landing distance of 2,044 meters was 54% of the runway length, which is within the acceptable range. However, the runway rollout alignment was misaligned by 26.9 meters from the centerline, indicating that the aircraft may have been slightly off-track during the rollout phase.
Overall, while the landing was successful, there were some minor deviations from the ideal parameters, which may be addressed through further training and practice to improve the aircraft's performance and safety.
