Avoid steep turns at low altitude
Below a thousand feet the aeroplane is slow, heavy and close to the ground. A steep turn loses lift, raises the stall speed and flattens the climb just when the gradient matters most. A normal turn on course is a rate one — fifteen degrees or so, twenty-five at the outside, this penalty is to acknowledge when a turn has stopped being a turn and become a manoeuvre.

The threshold, the flare and the hold-off. The approach that led to it is the stabilisation gates below.
One stabilised approach gate: five checks where the approach path is 500 ft above the runway. The 1,000 ft gate was not assessed, because the approach did not join final that far out.
At the 500 ft gate: no landing flap set.
The approach, gate by gate
Side view — the last 1,524 m of the approach.
Plan view — the first 1,524 m of the 2,997 m runway, to the same scale as the side view.
Touched down 543 m past the threshold — beyond the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
Taxiing from the parking area to the runway at LTBU Tekirdağ Çorlu Airport took less than a minute, covering a distance of less than 1 nautical mile. The aircraft then began its departure roll on runway 05L, accelerating to a liftoff speed of 67 knots. The takeoff distance of 444 meters accounted for 16% of the runway length. Local weather conditions at the time of departure featured a temperature of 25°C, with a wind speed of 12 knots from a direction of 19°. The crosswind component was 6 knots, while the headwind component was 10 knots.
As the aircraft climbed away from the airport, it began its enroute climb 1 mile northeast of LTBU Tekirdağ Çorlu Airport. The climb phase saw the aircraft ascend from an initial altitude of 1,174 feet above sea level to 1,559 feet, an increase of 385 feet in just 1 minute. This climb phase covered a distance of 2 nautical miles. Following the climb, the aircraft entered a level cruise phase, maintaining an altitude of 1,559 feet for 2 minutes while covering a further 4 nautical miles. The aircraft then began its final approach to runway 04 at LTBU Tekirdağ Çorlu Airport, descending from an altitude of 499 feet above ground level.
The approach phase was interrupted by a go-around, with the aircraft lifting off from a height of 0 feet above ground level. The aircraft then landed on runway 04, with a touchdown point located 111 meters beyond the touchdown zone. The touchdown speed of 59 knots was slightly above the target speed, while the touchdown rate of -26 feet per minute was perfect. The runway touchdown position was slightly misaligned from the centerline by 3.7 meters. The total landing distance of 1,195 meters accounted for 40% of the runway length. Following the landing, the aircraft taxied to the parking area, taking 1 minute to cover a distance of less than 1 nautical mile. The total flight distance was 42 nautical miles, with a flight time of 29 minutes and a fuel consumption of 13 kilograms.
The final approach to runway 04 at LTBU Tekirdağ Çorlu Airport from the south west, heading 45.0 ° at 1 nm and 499 ft agl, was executed with good quality. The aircraft maintained a stable and controlled descent throughout the approach, with a threshold height that was above the target of 50 ft agl, at 62 ft agl. The threshold speed of 67 kt was well above the target of 55 kt, indicating a high level of control and precision.
As the aircraft touched down on runway 04, the touchdown point was 111 m beyond the touchdown zone, indicating a slight over-run. The touchdown speed of 59 kt was a little fast, but the touchdown rate of -26 fpm was perfect, demonstrating a smooth and controlled touchdown. However, the runway touchdown position was slightly misaligned by 3.7 m from the centreline, which may have been due to a slight deviation in the approach path. The local weather conditions, with a temperature of 27 °C and a wind of 12 kt at 19 °, contributed to a crosswind of 6 kt and a headwind of 10 kt.
The total landing distance of 1,195 m was 40% of the runway length, indicating a relatively short landing distance. The runway rollout alignment was perfect, with the aircraft maintaining a straight and stable path along the centreline. Overall, the landing was executed with a high level of precision and control, resulting in a score of 96.1%.
