Work on the flare
Arrive slow and the sink rate at the threshold is already above schedule, the flare is short because there is no energy to extend it, and the touchdown is hard in a way that feels exactly like a late flare. Diagnosing a slow arrival as a late flare is the catastrophic misread: you respond by flaring earlier, which bleeds more speed, which makes the next one worse. The tiebreaker is threshold speed against VRef, not feel. Never diagnose a flare without it.

The threshold, the flare and the hold-off. The approach that led to it is the stabilisation gates below.
One stabilised approach gate: five checks where the approach path is 500 ft above the runway. The 1,000 ft gate was not assessed, because the approach did not join final that far out.
Side view — the last 1,557 m of the approach.
Plan view — the first 1,557 m of the 2,098 m runway, to the same scale as the side view.
Touched down 611 m past the threshold — beyond the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
The flight began with a taxiing period from the parking to the runway, which took 15 minutes and covered a distance of 3 nautical miles. The aircraft, a Boeing 737-800, then departed from runway 10R at Dublin Airport (EIDW), with a takeoff distance of 1,264 meters, which was 48% of the runway length. The liftoff speed was 156 knots.
The local weather conditions at the time of departure were characterized by a temperature of 8 degrees Celsius, with a wind speed of 17 knots at 150 degrees. This resulted in a crosswind of 14 knots and a headwind of 10 knots. The aircraft climbed from 1,221 feet above sea level to 35,092 feet above sea level, an increase of 33,872 feet, in 20 minutes and covering a distance of 121 nautical miles.
After reaching the cruising altitude, the aircraft entered a level cruise phase, which started 2 miles east of Marchwiel, Wales, and lasted for 27 minutes, covering a distance of 202 nautical miles. The aircraft then began its descent, starting 12 miles east of Deal, England, and descended from 35,735 feet above sea level to 1,870 feet above sea level, a decrease of 33,865 feet, in 23 minutes and covering a distance of 115 nautical miles.
The final approach to runway 24 at Brussels South Charleroi Airport (EBCI) was made from the north-east, heading 245.0 degrees, at 4 nautical miles and 1,254 feet above ground level. The landing was successful, with a touchdown point 188 meters beyond the touchdown zone, at a speed of 135 knots. The touchdown rate was perfect at -40 feet per minute, and the runway touchdown position was slightly misaligned by 3.6 meters from the centerline.
The local weather conditions at the time of landing were characterized by a temperature of -2 degrees Celsius, with a wind speed of 3 knots at 232 degrees. This resulted in a crosswind of 1 knot and a headwind of 3 knots. The total landing distance was 1,470 meters, which was 70% of the runway length. The runway rollout alignment was very good.
The taxiing period from the runway to the parking took 7 minutes and covered a distance of 1 nautical mile. The total flight distance was 449 nautical miles, and the flight duration was 93 minutes. The aircraft used 3,461 kilograms of fuel during the flight.
The Boeing 737-800 aircraft successfully landed at EBCI Brussels South Charleroi Airport, achieving a high score of 96.5%. The final approach to runway 24 was initiated from the north east, heading 245.0° at a distance of 4 nautical miles and an altitude of 1,254 feet above ground level.
The aircraft touched down on the runway with a good threshold height, and the threshold speed was also satisfactory at 145 knots. The touchdown point was located 188 meters beyond the designated touchdown zone, which is a relatively minor deviation. The touchdown speed of 135 knots was within the acceptable range, and the touchdown rate of -40 feet per minute was perfect, indicating a smooth and controlled descent.
The local weather conditions at the time of landing were characterized by a temperature of -2°C and a wind speed of 3 knots from a direction of 232°. The crosswind component was minimal at 1 knot, while the headwind component was 3 knots, which helped to stabilize the aircraft during the landing. The runway length at EBCI Brussels South Charleroi Airport is 2,098 meters, providing a sufficient margin for the aircraft to come to a stop.
The total landing distance of 1,470 meters was 70% of the available runway length, which is a reasonable figure considering the aircraft's size and weight. The runway rollout alignment was very good, indicating that the aircraft's brakes were applied smoothly and effectively to bring the aircraft to a stop. Overall, the landing was executed well, with only minor deviations from the ideal touchdown point and speed.
