Smooth the climb
A good takeoff has a defined shape. It also has a defined end. For an airliner that's thrust reduction and acceleration, commonly somewhere around 1,000 to 1,500 ft above the airfield depending on the operator, while for a light aircraft it's established at Vy with the flaps on schedule. Most simmers have no defined end to their takeoff, which is exactly why it never gets judged.

The threshold, the flare and the hold-off. The approach that led to it is the stabilisation gates below.
Two stabilised approach gates, each with seven checks, where the approach path is 1,000 ft and 500 ft above the runway.
The approach, gate by gate
Side view — the last 1,524 m of the approach.
Plan view — the first 1,524 m of the 3,036 m runway, to the same scale as the side view.
The 424 m touchdown sits inside the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
The flight began with the Airbus A320 taxiing from the parking area to the runway at Cornwall Airport Newquay, taking 9 minutes and covering a distance of 2 nautical miles. Departure roll took place on runway 30, with the aircraft lifting off at a speed of 167 knots. The local weather conditions at the time of takeoff were characterized by a temperature of 7 degrees Celsius, with a wind speed of 12 knots at a direction of 20 degrees. This resulted in a crosswind of 11 knots and a headwind of 2 knots.
As the aircraft climbed away from the airport, it began its enroute climb, starting 1 mile south east of Mawgan Porth in Cornwall, England. The climb took place from an altitude of 1,334 feet above sea level to 18,152 feet above sea level, an increase of 16,818 feet in just 9 minutes, covering a distance of 38 nautical miles. The aircraft then entered a level cruise, starting 3 miles east of Mary Tavy in Devon, England, and lasting for 7 minutes, during which it covered a distance of 50 nautical miles.
The enroute descent began overhead South Petherton in Somerset, England, where the aircraft descended from 18,011 feet above sea level to 5,646 feet above sea level, a decrease of 12,365 feet in 8 minutes, covering a distance of 45 nautical miles. The aircraft then entered another level cruise, starting overhead Oare in Wiltshire, England, and lasting for 3 minutes, during which it covered a distance of 12 nautical miles. The enroute descent began again, this time overhead Lambourn in West Berkshire, England, where the aircraft descended from 5,588 feet above sea level to 4,907 feet above sea level, a decrease of 681 feet in 2 minutes, covering a distance of 6 nautical miles.
The aircraft then entered another level cruise, starting 1 mile east of Wantage in Oxfordshire, England, and lasting for 3 minutes, during which it covered a distance of 7 nautical miles. The enroute descent began once more, this time overhead Longworth in Oxfordshire, England, where the aircraft descended from 3,928 feet above sea level to 1,485 feet above sea level, a decrease of 2,443 feet in 2 minutes, covering a distance of 8 nautical miles.
The final approach to runway 27 at RAF Fairford took place from the east, with the aircraft heading 268.0 degrees at an altitude of 1,206 feet above ground level and a distance of 4 nautical miles from the runway. The landing took place on runway 27, which had a length of 3,036 meters. The threshold height at 59 feet above ground level was slightly above the target, but the threshold speed was good at 141 knots. The touchdown distance was also good at 426 meters, but the touchdown speed at 138 knots was a little fast. The touchdown rate was fair at -281 feet per minute, and the runway touchdown alignment was perfect.
The local weather conditions at the time of landing were characterized by a temperature of 2 degrees Celsius, with a wind speed of 8 knots at a direction of 330 degrees. This resulted in a crosswind of 7 knots and a headwind of 4 knots. The total landing distance was 1,179 meters, which was 39% of the runway length. The runway rollout alignment was very good.
After landing, the aircraft taxied to the parking area, taking 3 minutes and covering a distance of less than 1 nautical mile. The total flight distance was 174 nautical miles, taking 47 minutes, and the aircraft used 1,891 kilograms of fuel during the flight.
The Airbus A320 successfully landed at RAF Fairford's runway 27, achieving a score of 97.0%. The aircraft approached the runway from the east, heading 268.0° at a distance of 4 nautical miles and an altitude of 1,206 feet above ground level (agl). The pilot's final approach was well-executed, with a good threshold speed of 141 knots.
Upon touchdown, the aircraft's performance was satisfactory, with a touchdown distance of 426 meters, which is within the acceptable range. However, the touchdown speed of 138 knots was slightly higher than the target, indicating that the pilot may have needed to apply more braking force upon touchdown. The touchdown rate of -281 feet per minute (fpm) was fair, suggesting that the aircraft's descent was not as smooth as it could have been.
The local weather conditions at the time of landing were characterized by a temperature of 2°C and a wind speed of 8 knots from 330°. This resulted in a crosswind of 7 knots and a headwind of 4 knots, which the pilot effectively managed during the landing. The runway touchdown alignment was perfect, indicating that the pilot maintained a stable and controlled approach.
The total landing distance of 1,179 meters was 39% of the runway length, which is a reasonable distance considering the aircraft's size and the wind conditions. The runway rollout alignment was very good, suggesting that the pilot maintained control of the aircraft during the rollout phase and applied the brakes effectively to bring the aircraft to a stop. Overall, the landing was successful, with the pilot demonstrating good skills and judgment in managing the aircraft's approach and touchdown.
