Slow down before tight turns
Twenty knots on a monitor produces the visual sensation of about ten. The advice to "taxi at a walking pace" cannot fix this, because your sense of walking pace is exactly the thing that's broken. Put the groundspeed readout in your scan and obey it for the next fifty flights, the way a student pilot leans on the airspeed indicator before learning to read attitude.

One stabilised approach gate: five checks where the approach path is 500 ft above the runway. The 1,000 ft gate was not assessed, because the approach did not join final that far out.
Side view — the last 1,524 m of the approach.
Plan view — the first 1,524 m of the 3,067 m runway, to the same scale as the side view.
The 315 m touchdown sits inside the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
The flight began with the Airbus A320 taxiing from the parking area to the runway at Dublin Airport, taking 12 minutes and covering a distance of 2 nautical miles. Departure roll took place on runway 28R, with a takeoff distance of 1,416 meters, which is 46% of the runway length. The aircraft lifted off at a speed of 174 knots.
As the aircraft climbed out of Dublin Airport, it encountered local weather conditions of 12°C temperature and winds of 11 knots at 239 degrees. The crosswind component was 6 knots, while the headwind component was 9 knots. The enroute climb started approximately 1 mile northwest of the airport, where the aircraft climbed from 1,220 feet above sea level to 7,138 feet above sea level, an increase of 5,918 feet in just 2 minutes, covering a distance of 8 nautical miles.
The aircraft then entered a level cruise phase, starting overhead Ratoath, Ireland, and lasting 4 minutes, covering a distance of 19 nautical miles. This was followed by another enroute climb phase, which started 4 miles east of Kilbride, Ireland, where the aircraft climbed from 7,380 feet above sea level to 34,475 feet above sea level, an increase of 27,095 feet in 11 minutes, covering a distance of 139 nautical miles.
The aircraft then entered another level cruise phase, starting 3 miles northwest of Ilfracombe, England, and lasting 44 minutes, covering a distance of 541 nautical miles. As the aircraft approached its destination, it began its descent, starting 1 mile southwest of Los Balbases, Spain, where it descended from 34,724 feet above sea level to 18,949 feet above sea level, a decrease of 15,775 feet in 7 minutes, covering a distance of 79 nautical miles.
The aircraft then entered another level cruise phase, starting 1 mile north of Otero de Herreros, Spain, and lasting 2 minutes, covering a distance of 16 nautical miles. This was followed by another descent phase, which started 1 mile southeast of Santa Maria de la Alameda, Spain, where the aircraft descended from 17,373 feet above sea level to 3,217 feet above sea level, a decrease of 14,156 feet in 13 minutes, covering a distance of 35 nautical miles.
The final approach to runway 32L at Adolfo Suárez Madrid–Barajas Airport was made from the southeast, heading 322.0 degrees at 4 nautical miles and 1,256 feet above ground level. The landing was successful, with a touchdown distance of 318 meters, which is 36% of the runway length. The touchdown speed was 130 knots, and the touchdown rate was smooth at -148 feet per minute. The runway touchdown position was slightly misaligned by 4.9 meters from the centerline.
The total landing distance was 1,092 meters, and the runway rollout alignment was very good. Taxiing to the parking area from the runway took 5 minutes and covered less than 1 nautical mile. The total flight distance was 846 nautical miles, taking 98 minutes, and the aircraft used 376 kilograms of fuel.
The Airbus A320 successfully landed at LEMD Adolfo Suárez Madrid–Barajas Airport, demonstrating a high level of proficiency in its approach and landing procedures. The aircraft began its final approach to runway 32L from the southeast, heading 322.0° at a distance of 4 nautical miles and an altitude of 1,256 feet above ground level (agl).
Throughout the approach, the aircraft maintained a smooth and controlled descent, with a threshold height that was well within acceptable limits. The threshold speed of 136 knots was also satisfactory, indicating that the aircraft was properly configured for landing. Upon touchdown, the aircraft's speed was 130 knots, which is within the recommended range for a safe landing. The touchdown rate of -148 feet per minute (fpm) was also smooth, suggesting that the aircraft's engines were properly throttled back to minimize the impact of landing.
However, there was a slight deviation in the runway touchdown position, with the aircraft landing 4.9 meters off-centerline. This minor misalignment may have been due to various factors, including wind conditions or pilot error. Fortunately, the local weather conditions were favorable, with a temperature of 10°C and no wind, which would have made the landing more challenging.
The total landing distance of 1,092 meters was 36% of the runway length, which is within the acceptable range. This indicates that the aircraft was able to slow down and come to a stop within a reasonable distance, without overrunning the runway. The runway rollout alignment was also very good, suggesting that the pilots were able to maintain control of the aircraft during the rollout phase.
Overall, the Airbus A320's landing at LEMD Adolfo Suárez Madrid–Barajas Airport was a success, with a high score of 98.9%. The aircraft's performance was characterized by a smooth and controlled descent, a satisfactory threshold speed, and a smooth touchdown rate. While there was a minor deviation in the runway touchdown position, the overall landing distance and rollout alignment were within acceptable limits.
