Track the centreline
Preparing for a stable approach will give you time to decide on whether to attempt the landing or going around. Too much altitude with a high sink rate will result in carrying too much speed onto the runway. Configuring flaps and the gear late also won't help the speed decay.

The threshold, the flare and the hold-off. The approach that led to it is the stabilisation gates below.
One stabilised approach gate for a circuit: seven checks where the approach path is 500 ft above the runway. The 1,000 ft gate is an instrument-approach check and does not apply. These checks are the approach's score.
At the 500 ft gate: centreline 1.1° off, against a 1° limit.

Side view — the last 1,524 m of the approach.
Plan view — the first 1,524 m of the 1,866 m runway, to the same scale as the side view.
The 389 m touchdown sits inside the full-score zone. The 0.27 G arrival is the firm side of smooth.
The rest of the report
The aircraft taxied to runway 23 at EGPE Inverness Airport and commenced the departure roll. The take-off run consumed 536 m, representing 29 % of the available runway, and the aircraft lifted off at 105 kt. Ambient conditions were 16 °C with a wind of 2 kt from 270°, a cross-wind component of 1 kt and a head-wind component of 2 kt.
Entering the left-hand traffic pattern from runway 23, the aircraft covered less than 1 nm in 23 seconds.
Continuing the left-hand pattern, the cross-wind leg was flown for less than 1 nm in 18 seconds.
During the downwind turn the aircraft described a 2 nm arc, establishing a 65.2° angle to the runway centreline.
The downwind leg extended 3 nm and was completed in 75 seconds.
A base-leg turn followed, tracing a 3 nm arc and aligning the aircraft to a 29.6° angle to the runway.
The base leg itself was less than 1 nm long and was flown in 14 seconds.
The final turn to the approach course covered 1 nm and required 35 seconds.
On final approach to runway 23 the aircraft descended from 808 ft AGL to 33 ft AGL over 71 seconds, satisfying the stabilisation gates.
Touchdown occurred on runway 23, whose length is 1 ,866 m. The threshold speed was recorded at 108 kt, slightly above the target. The aircraft touched down 390 m from the threshold at 95 kt, with a vertical speed of minus 74 fpm and perfect runway alignment. Weather at the time was 15 °C with a wind of 2 kt from 270°, a cross-wind component of 1 kt and a head-wind component of 2 kt.
Rollout distance measured 732 m, equivalent to 39 % of the runway, and the aircraft maintained perfect alignment during the deceleration phase.
In total the flight covered 12 nm, required 5 minutes of elapsed time, and consumed 4 kg of fuel.
The Lancair Legacy approached runway 23 at EGPE Inverness Airport on a final approach that descended from 808 ft agl to 33 ft agl in 71 seconds and was scored on the stabilisation gates; the aircraft carried a score of 95.4 % and encountered a temperature of 15 °C with wind 2 kt from 270°, a 1 kt cross-wind component and a 2 kt head-wind component.
At threshold the aircraft maintained a good threshold height and recorded a threshold speed slightly above target at 108 kt.
Touchdown occurred 390 m down the runway with a touchdown speed of 95 kt described as a little fast, a touchdown rate of -74 fpm rated excellent, and runway touchdown alignment perfect.
Rollout covered a total landing distance of 732 m, representing 39 % of the 1 866 m runway, and runway rollout alignment was perfect.
Further improvement should focus on reducing the slight excess in both threshold and touchdown speeds to bring them within target values, which will tighten the margin of safety and enhance overall efficiency.
