Shorten the long landing
Ground effect becomes significant below about one wingspan of height. A Cessna 172, with a 36 ft span, enters ground effect at flare height - the float it feels in the hold-off is ground effect arriving on cue. An A320, with a span around 117 ft, has been in ground effect since before the threshold and there is no sudden cushion to feel, only a gradual reduction in induced drag that lengthens any float you allow.

The threshold, the flare and the hold-off. The approach that led to it is the stabilisation gates below.
One stabilised approach gate: five checks where the approach path is 500 ft above the runway. The 1,000 ft gate was not assessed, because the approach did not join final that far out.
Side view — the last 2,155 m of the approach.
Plan view — the first 2,155 m of the 3,994 m runway, to the same scale as the side view.
Touched down 1,130 m past the threshold — beyond the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
Overall, this aircraft landing showed a mix of strengths and areas for improvement. While there were some deficiencies in certain phases of the landing, there were also moments of success that should be acknowledged.
During the Approach Phase, the descent path was noted to be above the glideslope limit. However, it is commendable that the heading alignment and speed were on target. This demonstrates a level of precision and attentiveness that should be recognized.
Moving on to the Landing Phase, it is noted that the threshold height was too high and the landing flare was poor. These are areas that could be improved upon in future landings. However, it is important to remember that every landing provides a learning opportunity and the opportunity to enhance skills.
In the Touchdown Phase, it is encouraging to see that the touchdown rate was smooth and the speed was on target. Although the touchdown point was beyond the designated zone and the runway touchdown position was slightly off centerline, these are aspects that can be addressed through practice and focus.
Finally, in the Rollout Phase, the runway alignment was slightly off centerline. This could be an area for improvement, but with attention to detail and continued practice, improvements can be made.
Overall, this landing showcased a mix of successes and areas for growth. By acknowledging both the strengths and weaknesses of the landing, pilots can continue to refine their skills and strive for excellence in each subsequent landing. With determination and a positive attitude towards improvement, the next landing is sure to be even better. Keep up the effort and dedication to safety and precision in every phase of flight.
