MY FS FLIGHTS
Flight Score
Arrival
Begin the flare with progressive back pressure and keep it coming until the sink is arrested, rather than flying it on flat.
What happened: The nose was barely raised in the flare and little of the sink was taken out, flying the aircraft onto the runway. This pattern usually carries through to a firm touchdown with a noticeable sink rate.
Watch for: Vertical speed indicator: a smoothly reducing sink through the normal flare band, not a steady rate into the runway.
There are several things that can go wrong during the flare, carrying too much speed over the threshold, starting the flare at the wrong height and inconsistent flight control inputs, all contribute to a poor flare resulting in a hard touchdown or a float down the runway.

The threshold, the flare and the hold-off. The approach that led to it is the stabilisation gates below.
Two stabilised approach gates, each with seven checks, where the approach path is 1,000 ft and 500 ft above the runway. They are the approach's score: the checks passed out of the checks that ran.
The approach, gate by gate
Side view — the last 6,218 ft of the approach.
Plan view — the first 6,218 ft of the 11,416 ft runway, to the same scale as the side view.
The 1,548 ft touchdown sits inside the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
Departing from Ouarzazate Airport (GMMZ), the Boeing 737-800 began its journey with a taxiing period of six minutes, covering a distance of one nautical mile to reach the runway. The aircraft then took off from runway 30, utilizing 5,854 feet of the available runway, which accounted for 60% of its length. The liftoff speed was achieved at 152 knots, as the aircraft lifted off into the local weather conditions, characterized by a temperature of 60°F and winds of 6 knots at 49°.
As the aircraft climbed to its enroute cruise altitude, it ascended from 4,793 feet above sea level to 36,994 feet, an increase of 32,201 feet in 20 minutes, covering a distance of 133 nautical miles. The climb phase was followed by a 67-minute level cruise, during which the aircraft covered 497 nautical miles. The descent phase commenced 1 mile west of Nules, Spain, and the aircraft descended from 36,999 feet to 3,183 feet in 35 minutes, covering 186 nautical miles. The final approach to runway 24R at Barcelona-El Prat Airport (LEBL) was initiated from the north-east, with the aircraft maintaining a heading of 245.0° at 4 nautical miles and 1,293 feet above ground level.
The landing was executed on runway 24R, which had a length of 9,559 feet. The touchdown point was 194 feet beyond the touchdown zone, with a touchdown speed of 133 knots and a touchdown rate of -233 feet per minute. The runway touchdown position was slightly misaligned by 15 feet from the centreline. The total landing distance was 5,964 feet, accounting for 62% of the runway length. Following the landing, the aircraft taxied to the parking area in four minutes, covering a distance of less than one nautical mile. The total flight distance was 842 nautical miles, with a flight time of 140 minutes and a fuel consumption of 11,932 pounds.
The Boeing 737-800 touched down on runway 24R at LEBL Josep Tarradellas Barcelona-El Prat Airport with a good threshold height, allowing for a smooth transition into the landing phase. The aircraft's approach quality was excellent, with a threshold speed of 141 kt, which was well within the acceptable range. As the aircraft descended onto the runway, it touched down at a speed of 133 kt, which was also good, and a touchdown rate of -233 fpm, although slightly higher than ideal, was still considered fair.
The touchdown point was located 194 ft beyond the touchdown zone, indicating a slight over-run. However, the runway touchdown position was only 15 ft off centreline, demonstrating good control and alignment during the rollout phase. The local weather conditions, with a temperature of 68 °F and a gentle tailwind of 6 kt, contributed to a relatively straightforward landing. The aircraft's performance was further highlighted by a total landing distance of 5,964 ft, which represented 62% of the runway length.
The rollout phase was notable for its excellent alignment, with the aircraft staying very close to the centreline. Overall, the landing was considered highly successful, with a score of 98.8% reflecting the crew's skill and the aircraft's performance. The slight over-run and higher-than-ideal touchdown rate were minor issues, but did not detract from the overall quality of the landing.
