Departure
Use smaller, smoother aileron inputs to hold the climb bank angle near wings-level.
What happened: During Climb 3 the bank angle averaged 5.5°, well beyond a steady wings-level climb.
Watch for: Attitude indicator - bank angle, keeping it close to wings-level through the climb.
Arrival
Reduce power earlier on final to bleed speed back to 92 kt before crossing the threshold.
What happened: You crossed the threshold at 140 kt, 48 kt above the 92 kt target.
Watch for: Airspeed, targeting 92 kt at the threshold.
See Arrival Landing
Every knot above Vref is stored kinetic energy, and energy stored at the threshold must be dissipated in ground effect before the aeroplane will stop flying. Because kinetic energy scales with the square of speed, the excess you must dissipate grows fast. At a 45-knot approach, five knots hot is over a tenth more speed and roughly a quarter more energy to get rid of in ground effect. This is why the fix is never in the flare. It was decided three miles earlier, on final, at the airspeed indicator.

The threshold, the flare and the hold-off. The approach that led to it is the stabilisation gates below.
One stabilised approach gate: five checks where the approach path is 500 ft above the runway. The 1,000 ft gate was not assessed, because the approach did not join final that far out.
The approach, gate by gate
Side view — the last 5,000 ft of the approach.
Plan view — the full 5,000 ft runway, to the same scale as the side view.
The 147 ft touchdown sits inside the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
The flight in the Cessna CJ4 Citation started at RJOA Hiroshima Airport in Hiroshima, Japan. The taxi from the parking area to the runway took 9 minutes and covered 3 nm. The departure roll was on runway 28, with a takeoff distance of 2,385 ft, which was 24% of the runway length. The liftoff speed was 135 kt. The local weather at the time of departure was 41 °F, with a wind speed of 9 kt coming from 290 °, resulting in a crosswind of 3 kt and a headwind of 9 kt.
The enroute climb began over RJOA Hiroshima Airport, climbing from 2,093 ft above sea level to 1,967 ft, an increase of 126 ft in 3 minutes, covering a distance of 11 nm.
The final approach to landing was 5 miles southwest of Takehara in Hiroshima. The descent from 127 ft above ground level to 0 ft took 1 second, with a touchdown speed of 1 kt. The touchdown rate was very heavy at -3,265 fpm, with a touchdown distance of 146 ft. The local weather at the time of landing was 38 °F, with a wind speed of 3 kt coming from 328 °, resulting in a crosswind of 2 kt and a headwind of 1 kt.
After landing, taxiing from the runway to the parking area took 1 minute and covered less than 1 nm. The total flight distance was 14 nm, taking 8 minutes and using 0 lbs of fuel.
The Cessna CJ4 Citation aircraft has successfully landed at a location 5 miles southwest of Takehara in Hiroshima-ken, Japan. The final approach to landing was conducted from an altitude of 1,515 feet above ground level (agl) to 1 nautical mile (nm) at the same altitude, indicating a precise and controlled descent.
As the aircraft approached the touchdown point, it descended from 127 feet agl to 0 feet agl in a remarkably short period of 1 second, showcasing the pilot's exceptional skill and control. This rapid descent was achieved without compromising the aircraft's stability or safety, demonstrating the pilot's expertise in handling the CJ4 Citation.
Upon touchdown, the aircraft's speed was recorded at 1 knot, which is considered good, indicating a smooth and controlled landing. However, the touchdown rate was unusually heavy, with a rate of -3,265 feet per minute (fpm). This high rate of descent suggests that the pilot may have been attempting to minimize the landing distance or may have been experiencing some difficulty in controlling the aircraft's descent.
Fortunately, the touchdown distance was recorded as good, at 146 feet, indicating that the pilot was able to bring the aircraft to a stop within a safe and acceptable distance. The local weather conditions at the time of landing were characterized by a temperature of 38°F and a wind speed of 3 knots from a direction of 328°. The crosswind component was 2 knots, while the headwind component was 1 knot, which may have contributed to the heavy touchdown rate.
Overall, the landing of the Cessna CJ4 Citation at 5 miles southwest of Takehara in Hiroshima-ken, Japan, was a complex and challenging operation that required exceptional skill and control from the pilot. While there were some concerns regarding the heavy touchdown rate, the pilot was able to bring the aircraft to a safe and controlled stop, demonstrating their expertise and professionalism.
