Improve the touchdown
There are several things that can go wrong during the flare, carrying too much speed over the threshold, starting the flare at the wrong height and inconsistent flight control inputs, all contribute to a poor flare resulting in a hard touchdown or a float down the runway.

The threshold, the flare and the hold-off. The approach that led to it is the stabilisation gates below.
Two stabilised approach gates, each with seven checks, where the approach path is 1,000 ft and 500 ft above the runway. They are the approach's score: the checks passed out of the checks that ran.
The approach, gate by gate
Side view — the last 5,000 ft of the approach.
Plan view — the first 5,000 ft of the 10,510 ft runway, to the same scale as the side view.
The 1,604 ft touchdown sits inside the full-score zone. The 2.33 G arrival is the firm side of smooth.
The rest of the report
The Boeing 737-700 taxied from the parking area to runway 04 at KELP El Paso International Airport in 10 minutes, covering less than 1 nm.
During the departure roll on runway 04, the aircraft used 5,257 ft of runway, representing 44 % of the available length, and lifted off at 139 kt. Ambient conditions were 70 °F with a wind of 3 kt from 065°, a 1 kt cross-wind component and a 3 kt head-wind component.
Climb commenced approximately 1 mile northeast of KELP, with the airplane accelerating from 4,894 ft asl to 40,009 ft asl, an altitude gain of 35,115 ft achieved in 16 minutes while covering 108 nm.
Level cruise began about 10 miles northeast of Mimbres, New Mexico, and persisted for 33 minutes, during which the flight covered 255 nm.
Descent was initiated roughly 2 miles southwest of the AZ46 Morgan Ranch Airstrip, descending from 39,987 ft asl to 3,414 ft asl, a loss of 36,573 ft over 27 minutes and a distance of 151 nm.
The final approach to runway 26L at KLAS Harry Reid International Airport reduced altitude from 1,337 ft agl to 113 ft agl in 101 seconds, and the aircraft scored on the stabilisation gates.
Landing on runway 26L was executed with a threshold speed of 131 kt; touchdown occurred 227 ft beyond the touchdown zone at 127 kt, a firm rate of minus 346 fpm, and a lateral offset of 14 ft from the centreline. Local weather reported 89 °F, wind 2 kt from 056°, a 1 kt cross-wind and a 2 kt tail-wind component. The total landing distance measured 3,878 ft, equivalent to 37 % of the runway.
Runway rollout alignment was described as very good, confirming the aircraft remained on the centreline throughout the deceleration phase.
After landing, the aircraft taxied from the runway to the parking area in 3 minutes, traveling less than 1 nm.
In total, the flight covered 522 nm, taking 88 and consumed 7,081 lbs of fuel.
The Boeing 737-700 executed a stabilised approach at the 1,000 ft gate, with gear, flaps, sink rate, glideslope, centreline and speed all within limits, and the descent from 1,337 ft agl to 113 ft agl was completed in 101 seconds on final to runway 26L at KLAS.
At threshold the height was good and the threshold speed was good at 131 kt.
Touchdown occurred 227 ft beyond the touchdown zone with a speed of 127 kt, noted as a little fast, and the aircraft settled with a firm rate of minus 346 fpm; the touchdown point was slightly misaligned by 14 ft from the centreline.
The rollout covered a total landing distance of 3,878 ft, representing 37 % of the 10,510 ft runway, and alignment during rollout was very good.
To refine future landings, aim to reduce the touchdown speed toward the target to lessen the slight excess, and adjust the flare to place the main gear closer to the designated touchdown zone while maintaining the current excellent rollout alignment.
