MY FS FLIGHTS
Flight Score
Slow down before tight turns
Twenty knots on a monitor produces the visual sensation of about ten. The advice to "taxi at a walking pace" cannot fix this, because your sense of walking pace is exactly the thing that's broken. Put the groundspeed readout in your scan and obey it for the next fifty flights, the way a student pilot leans on the airspeed indicator before learning to read attitude.

Two stabilised approach gates, each with six checks at 1,000 ft and 500 ft above the runway.
The approach, gate by gate
Side view — the last 1,524 m of the approach.
Plan view — the first 1,524 m of the 2,790 m runway, to the same scale as the side view.
The 308 m touchdown sits inside the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
The aircraft taxied from the parking area to runway 25 at LIRF Rome-Fiumicino, a movement that lasted 5 minutes and covered 2 nm.
During the departure roll on runway 25, the Airbus A321 accelerated through a takeoff distance of 1,657 m, representing 52 % of the runway, and lifted off at 177 kt; local weather reported a temperature of 35 °C, wind 5 kt from 240°, with a 1 kt crosswind component and a 5 kt headwind.
The initial climb began overhead LIRF, climbing from -872 ft asl to 18,004 ft asl, an increase of 18,876 ft achieved in 9 minutes while covering 50 nm.
A short cruise segment started 3 miles south-west of LIRV Viterbo Airport, lasting 3 minutes and spanning 16 nm.
A second climb commenced overhead San Lorenzo Nuovo, rising from 18,349 ft asl to 36,008 ft asl, an increase of 17,659 ft in 13 minutes and covering 99 nm.
The next cruise phase originated 3 miles south-east of Monterenzio, continued for 37 minutes and encompassed 280 nm.
Descent began 4 miles north-east of Solnhofen, descending from 36,014 ft asl to 5,241 ft asl, a loss of 30,772 ft over 27 minutes while traveling 158 nm.
A brief cruise followed overhead Gutenberg, lasting 3 minutes and covering 11 nm.
A further descent started 1 mile north-east of Bubenheim, dropping from 5,012 ft asl to 1,654 ft asl, a decrease of 3,358 ft in 4 minutes and spanning 13 nm.
The final approach to runway 07L at EDDF Frankfurt Airport was flown from the south-west, on a heading of 69.0° at 4 nm and 1,301 ft agl.
Landing on runway 07L, which is 2,797 m long, occurred with a threshold speed of 141 kt, a touchdown point 438 m beyond the touchdown zone, a touchdown speed of 140 kt, and a touchdown rate of minus 576 fpm; the aircraft was laterally offset by 10.7 m from the centreline. Local conditions were a temperature of 34 °C, wind 4 kt from 320°, a 4 kt crosswind and a 1 kt tailwind. The total landing distance was 1,223 m, representing 44 % of the runway, and rollout alignment was off by 11.8 m from centreline.
After landing, the aircraft taxied to the parking area, a taxi-in that took 15 minutes and covered 5 nm.
In total, the flight covered 639nm, lasted 120, and consumed 5,286 kg of fuel.
The Airbus A321 executed a final approach to runway 07L at EDDF Frankfurt from the south-west, tracking a heading of 69.0 ° at 4 nm and 1,301 ft agl. The approach was assessed as stabilised at the 1,000 ft gate, with gear, flaps, sink rate, glideslope and centreline all reported within limits.
At threshold the aircraft’s speed was slightly above target at 141 kt and the threshold height was good. The touchdown point was 438 m beyond the touchdown zone, and the aircraft crossed the threshold at a little fast 140 kt. The flare produced a very hard touchdown rate of minus 576 fpm and the touchdown position was misaligned by 10.7 m from the centreline.
Touchdown occurred with the noted speed and rate, and the total landing distance measured 1,223 m, representing 44 % of the 2,797 m runway. Local weather was 34 °C with a wind of 4 kt from 320 °, including a 4 kt crosswind component and a 1 kt tailwind component.
During rollout the aircraft remained slightly off centreline, with a lateral deviation of 11.8 m.
Refine flare timing to moderate the sink rate and reduce the hard touchdown, and focus on achieving tighter lateral alignment at touchdown to keep the aircraft within a few metres of the centreline. These adjustments will help convert the already strong 90.7 % score into an even more consistent performance.
