Maintain the centreline
A small uncorrected heading error at 40 knots becomes a metre of offset per second by 100 knots, noticed only at rotation, producing a crabbed liftoff. Root cause is nearly always eyes on the tape instead of the far end of the runway. Small heading changes displace a distant point visibly long before the nearby centreline stripes look wrong.

The threshold, the flare and the hold-off. The approach that led to it is the stabilisation gates below.
One stabilised approach gate: five checks where the approach path is 500 ft above the runway. The 1,000 ft gate was not assessed, because the approach did not join final that far out.
The approach, gate by gate
Side view — the last 5,000 ft of the approach.
Plan view — the first 5,000 ft of the 6,016 ft runway, to the same scale as the side view.
The 681 ft touchdown sits inside the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
The flight began with a short taxiing period from the parking area to the runway, taking approximately 1 minute and covering less than 1 nautical mile. The aircraft, a Cessna CJ4 Citation, then departed from runway 23 at the Akron Canton Regional Airport (KCAK). The takeoff distance was 1,954 feet, which accounted for 24% of the runway. The liftoff speed was 141 knots.
As the aircraft climbed to a higher altitude, it encountered local weather conditions with a temperature of 60°F and a wind speed of 2 knots at 270°. The crosswind was 1 knot, and the headwind was also 1 knot. The enroute climb started 1 mile south of Greensburg, Ohio, and the aircraft ascended from 2,117 feet above sea level to 20,002 feet above sea level, an increase of 17,885 feet in 8 minutes, covering a distance of 33 nautical miles.
The enroute level cruise began 3 miles west of Port Washington, Ohio, and lasted for 63 minutes, covering a distance of 416 nautical miles. The aircraft then started its enroute descent 3 miles northeast of Augusta Regional Airport (KAGS) in Georgia, descending from 20,006 feet above sea level to 2,695 feet above sea level, a decrease of 17,311 feet in 12 minutes, covering a distance of 56 nautical miles.
The enroute level cruise resumed 3 miles northeast of Stillmore, Georgia, and lasted for 3 minutes, covering a distance of 8 nautical miles. The final approach to runway 32 at Emanuel County Airport (KSBO) was made from the southeast, heading 310.0° at 4 nautical miles and 1,271 feet above ground level.
The landing on runway 32 at KSBO was successful, with a touchdown distance of 674 feet, which was considered good. However, the touchdown speed of 111 knots was too fast, and the touchdown rate was hard at -442 feet per minute. The runway touchdown alignment was very good, and the local weather conditions were similar to those encountered during the takeoff, with a temperature of 62°F and a wind speed of 2 knots at 270°.
The crosswind was 1 knot, and the headwind was 2 knots. The total landing distance was 2,193 feet, which accounted for 36% of the runway. The runway rollout alignment was perfect, and the taxiing period from the runway to the parking area took less than 1 minute, covering less than 1 nautical mile. The total flight distance was 519 nautical miles, and the flight duration was 91 minutes, with no fuel consumption reported.
The Cessna CJ4 Citation successfully landed at KSBO Emanuel County Airport, achieving a score of 92.7%. The aircraft approached the runway from the southeast, heading 310.0° at a distance of 4 nautical miles and an altitude of 1,271 feet above ground level (agl). The pilot executed a precise final approach, aligning the aircraft with the runway threshold.
Upon touchdown, the aircraft landed on runway 32, which has a length of 6,016 feet. The threshold height was satisfactory, but the threshold speed was slightly too high at 118 knots. This indicates that the pilot may have been able to flare the aircraft more effectively to achieve a smoother touchdown. The touchdown distance of 674 feet was within acceptable limits, but the touchdown speed of 111 knots was slightly too fast.
The aircraft's descent rate was hard at -442 feet per minute (fpm), which may have contributed to the slightly fast touchdown speed. However, the runway touchdown alignment was very good, indicating that the pilot maintained control of the aircraft throughout the approach and landing.
The local weather conditions at the time of the landing were favorable, with a temperature of 62°F and a light wind of 2 knots from 270°. The crosswind component was minimal at 1 knot, and the headwind component was 2 knots, which helped to stabilize the aircraft during the approach.
The total landing distance of 2,193 feet was 36% of the runway length, which is within acceptable limits. The runway rollout alignment was perfect, indicating that the pilot maintained control of the aircraft during the rollout phase and brought it to a stop safely. Overall, the landing was successful, but there is room for improvement in terms of threshold speed and touchdown speed.
