Maintain the centreline
A small uncorrected heading error at 40 knots becomes a metre of offset per second by 100 knots, noticed only at rotation, producing a crabbed liftoff. Root cause is nearly always eyes on the tape instead of the far end of the runway. Small heading changes displace a distant point visibly long before the nearby centreline stripes look wrong.

One stabilised approach gate: five checks where the approach path is 500 ft above the runway. The 1,000 ft gate was not assessed, because the approach did not join final that far out.
Side view — the last 5,000 ft of the approach.
Plan view — the first 5,000 ft of the 11,001 ft runway, to the same scale as the side view.
The 995 ft touchdown sits inside the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
The flight began with a taxiing period from the parking to the runway, which took 10 minutes and covered a distance of 2 nautical miles. The aircraft, a Vision Jet, then departed from runway 15R at HLLB Benina International Airport. The takeoff distance was 1,733 feet, which accounted for 15% of the runway. The liftoff speed was 95 knots.
The local weather conditions at the time of departure were characterized by a temperature of 76°F and a wind speed of 12 knots at 163°. The crosswind component was 3 knots, while the headwind component was 11 knots. The aircraft then began its enroute climb, which started overhead HLLB Benina International Airport. The climb took 19 minutes and covered a distance of 47 nautical miles, during which the aircraft ascended from 1,303 feet above sea level to 28,637 feet above sea level, an increase of 27,334 feet.
Following the enroute climb, the aircraft entered a level cruise phase, which lasted for 58 minutes and covered a distance of 225 nautical miles. This phase took place 37 miles northwest of Benghazi, Libya. The aircraft then began its enroute descent, which started 90 miles southeast of Marsaskala, Malta. The descent took 26 minutes and covered a distance of 88 nautical miles, during which the aircraft descended from 28,310 feet above sea level to 1,510 feet above sea level, a decrease of 26,801 feet.
The final approach to runway 31 at LMML Malta International Airport was made from the southeast, with a heading of 315.0° at 4 nautical miles and 1,245 feet above ground level. The landing was made on runway 31, which had a length of 11,001 feet. The threshold height was good, and the threshold speed was slightly above the target at 74 knots. The touchdown distance was good at 990 feet, and the touchdown speed was 66 knots, which was also good. The touchdown rate was smooth at -124 feet per minute.
The runway touchdown position was slightly misaligned by 16 feet from the centreline. The local weather conditions at the time of landing were characterized by a temperature of 71°F and a wind speed of 17 knots at 350°. The crosswind component was 10 knots, while the headwind component was 14 knots. The total landing distance was 2,031 feet, which accounted for 18% of the runway. The runway rollout alignment was misaligned by 95 feet from the centreline.
The final phase of the flight involved taxiing to the parking from the runway, which took 3 minutes and covered a distance of less than 1 nautical mile. The total flight distance was 369 nautical miles, and the flight duration was 114 minutes. The aircraft used 815 pounds of fuel during the flight.
The Vision Jet aircraft successfully landed at LMML Malta International Airport, achieving an overall score of 88.7%. The final approach to runway 31 was conducted from the south east, heading 315.0° at a distance of 4 nautical miles and an altitude of 1,245 feet above ground level.
Upon landing, the aircraft touched down on the runway with a speed of 74 knots, which was slightly above the target threshold speed. However, the touchdown distance of 990 feet was considered good, and the touchdown speed of 66 knots was also within acceptable limits. The touchdown rate was smooth, with a descent rate of -124 feet per minute.
Despite a good overall performance, there were some minor issues with the landing. The runway touchdown position was slightly misaligned by 16 feet from the centreline, and the runway rollout alignment was also misaligned by 95 feet from the centreline. However, these deviations were not significant enough to impact the overall safety of the landing.
The local weather conditions at the time of the landing were favourable, with a temperature of 71°F and a wind speed of 17 knots from a direction of 350°. The crosswind component was 10 knots, while the headwind component was 14 knots. These conditions did not appear to have a significant impact on the landing, and the aircraft was able to maintain control throughout the approach and touchdown.
Overall, the Vision Jet aircraft demonstrated a good level of proficiency in landing at LMML Malta International Airport, with a smooth and controlled touchdown. While there were some minor deviations from the ideal landing, the aircraft's performance was still considered satisfactory.
