Shorten the long landing
Ground effect becomes significant below about one wingspan of height. A Cessna 172, with a 36 ft span, enters ground effect at flare height - the float it feels in the hold-off is ground effect arriving on cue. An A320, with a span around 117 ft, has been in ground effect since before the threshold and there is no sudden cushion to feel, only a gradual reduction in induced drag that lengthens any float you allow.

The rest of the report
The Boeing 737-800 taxied from the parking area to runway 21 at Eindhoven Airport, a movement that lasted 6 minutes and covered less than 1 nm.
During the departure roll on runway 21, the aircraft accelerated over a takeoff distance of 3,968 ft, representing 44 % of the runway, and lifted off at 152 kt. Ambient conditions were a temperature of 78 °F, wind 8 kt from 280°, with an 8 kt crosswind component and a 4 kt headwind.
Climb commenced overhead Oerle, rising from 1,041 ft asl to 36,494 ft asl, an increase of 35,453 ft achieved in 19 minutes while covering 114 nm.
The first cruise segment began 1 mile west of Grosbous in Luxembourg, persisting for 50 minutes and traversing 390 nm at level flight.
Descent began 1 mile southeast of LIGC Campo di Volo Creva Air Club Crevalcore, descending from 36,973 ft asl to 5,001 ft asl, a loss of 31,971 ft in 22 minutes and covering 141 nm.
A second cruise phase started 1 mile northwest of San Pietro in Casale, lasting 5 minutes and spanning 23 nm.
The subsequent descent originated 1 mile west of Castel Guelfo di Bologna, dropping from 4,920 ft asl to 1,800 ft asl, a decrease of 3,120 ft in 4 minutes and covering 13 nm.
Final approach to runway 30 at Bologna Guglielmo Marconi Airport was conducted from the southeast, on a heading of 296.0° at 4 nm and 1,667 ft agl.
Landing on runway 30, which is 8,123 ft long, occurred with a threshold speed of 138 kt. Touchdown was recorded 1,661 ft beyond the touchdown zone at a speed of 116 kt, with a touchdown rate of minus 172 fpm and a lateral deviation of 15 ft from the centreline. Local weather reported a temperature of 72 °F, wind 8 kt from 280°, a 2 kt crosswind and an 8 kt headwind. The total landing distance measured 5,415 ft, representing 67 % of the runway, and rollout alignment was very good.
After landing, the aircraft taxied from the runway to the parking area in 1 minute, covering less than 1 nm.
In total, the flight covered 687 nm, took 110 minutes, and consumed 10,742 lb of fuel.
The Boeing 737-800 executed a final approach to runway 30 at LIPE Bologna Guglielmo Marconi Airport from the south-east, tracking a heading of 296.0° at 4 nm and 1,667 ft agl. The approach was assessed as stabilised at the 1,000 ft gate, with gear, flaps, sink rate, glideslope and centreline all within limits.
Threshold height was reported as good and the threshold speed was good at 138 kt.
Touchdown occurred 1,661 ft beyond the touchdown zone with a speed of 116 kt, both judged good, and the vertical rate was good at minus 172 fpm. The runway touchdown position was slightly misaligned by 15 ft from the centreline.
The total landing distance measured 5,415 ft, representing 67 % of the runway, and runway rollout alignment was very good.
To tighten the remaining variances, aim for the standard aim point approximately 1,000 ft down the runway and maintain precise centreline tracking throughout the flare and touchdown. This focus will convert the minor lateral offset into a fully on-target landing.
