Improve the pattern base leg
See Pattern Base Leg
Bank angle in the pattern is conventionally kept to 20 to 30 degrees, and the base-to-final turn is where that convention earns its keep. Stall speed rises with bank because the wing must produce more lift in a turn. Roughly 7 per cent higher at 30 degrees, about 19 per cent at 45, and around 40 per cent at 60. At 65 kt on base you don't have much margin to spend steepening a turn to salvage an overshoot.

The threshold, the flare and the hold-off. The approach that led to it is the stabilisation gates below.
One stabilised approach gate for a circuit: seven checks where the approach path is 300 ft above the runway. The 1,000 ft gate is an instrument-approach check and does not apply.
At the 300 ft gate: off the centreline.
The approach, gate by gate
Side view — the last 1,524 m of the approach.
Plan view — the first 1,524 m of the 1,814 m runway, to the same scale as the side view.
The 333 m touchdown sits inside the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
The flight was conducted in a Beechcraft A36 Bonanza aircraft. Taxiing from the parking area to the runway took less than a minute and covered a distance of less than one nautical mile. The departure roll took place on runway 05 at EGPE Inverness Airport, with a takeoff distance of 325 meters, which is 18% of the runway length. The liftoff speed was 82 knots.
The local weather conditions at the time of takeoff were characterized by a temperature of 10 degrees Celsius and a wind speed of 0 knots from a direction of 331 degrees. There was no crosswind or headwind. The aircraft entered a left-hand pattern from runway 05, covering a distance of less than one nautical mile in 28 seconds. The pattern crosswind leg was also flown on the left-hand side, with a distance of less than one nautical mile covered in 20 seconds.
The pattern downwind turn was made at an angle of 45 degrees to the runway, with a distance of 2 nautical miles covered. The downwind leg itself was 3 nautical miles long and took 76 seconds to complete. The base leg turn was made at an angle of 31.3 degrees to the runway, with a distance of 2 nautical miles covered. The base leg was less than one nautical mile long and took 20 seconds to complete.
The final turn was made in less than one nautical mile and took 14 seconds to complete. The final approach to runway 05 was made from the southwest, with a heading of 34.0 degrees and an altitude of 468 feet above ground level. The landing was made on the runway, with a touchdown distance of 333 meters. The touchdown speed was 64 knots, which was considered good, and the touchdown rate was excellent at -77 feet per minute.
The runway touchdown alignment was perfect, and the runway rollout alignment was also perfect. The total landing distance was 642 meters, which is 35% of the runway length. The local weather conditions at the time of landing were characterized by a temperature of 9 degrees Celsius and a wind speed of 0 knots from a direction of 331 degrees. There was no crosswind or headwind.
The total flight distance was 9 nautical miles, and the flight took 6 minutes to complete. The aircraft used 3 kilograms of fuel during the flight. Overall, the flight was considered to be a good one, with a smooth and controlled landing made on the runway.
The Beechcraft A36 Bonanza successfully landed at EGPE Inverness Airport, achieving a high score of 95.9%. The aircraft approached the runway from the southwest, heading 34.0° at 1 nautical mile and 468 feet above ground level (agl). This indicates a precise and controlled descent into the airport.
Upon landing, the aircraft touched down on runway 05, which has a length of 1,814 meters. The threshold height was good, suggesting that the pilot maintained a safe distance from the runway threshold. However, the threshold speed was above the target speed of 87 kt, which may indicate a slightly aggressive approach. Nevertheless, the touchdown distance of 333 meters was good, and the touchdown speed of 64 kt was within acceptable limits.
The touchdown rate of -77 feet per minute (fpm) was excellent, indicating a smooth and controlled touchdown. The runway touchdown alignment was perfect, demonstrating the pilot's skill and precision in aligning the aircraft with the runway. The local weather conditions were favorable, with a temperature of 9°C and a wind speed of 0 kt at 331°.
The total landing distance of 642 meters was 35% of the runway length, which is a relatively short distance. This suggests that the pilot executed a well-controlled and efficient landing. The runway rollout alignment was also perfect, indicating that the pilot maintained control of the aircraft during the rollout phase.
Overall, the landing was a success, with the pilot demonstrating excellent skills and control throughout the approach and landing phases. The high score of 95.9% reflects the precision and proficiency of the pilot in executing a safe and efficient landing at EGPE Inverness Airport.
