Fixing the bounce
Fast at the threshold, normal flare, and the runway seems to refuse the aircraft. The instinctive fix - pushing it on - causes the next one. A fast aircraft forced onto the runway touches nosewheel-first or nearly so. The tell is a touchdown that feels soft followed by a bounce that steepens. Pilots fix the bounce recovery; the cause was the 10 knots at the threshold.

Two stabilised approach gates, each with six checks at 1,000 ft and 500 ft above the runway.
The approach, gate by gate
Side view — the last 1,524 m of the approach.
Plan view — the first 1,524 m of the 3,710 m runway, to the same scale as the side view.
Touched down 515 m past the threshold — beyond the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
The Airbus A320 taxied from the parking area to runway 22R at LIPZ Venice Marco Polo Airport, a movement that lasted 9 minutes and covered 1 nm.
During the departure roll on runway 22R, the aircraft accelerated over a takeoff distance of 1,835 m, representing 66 % of the runway length, and lifted off at 140 kt. Ambient conditions were a temperature of 28 °C with wind from 149° at 13 kt, providing a 4 kt headwind and a 13 kt crosswind component.
Climb commenced overhead Tessera in Veneto, Italy, with the flight climbing from 945 ft asl to 37,010 ft asl, an altitude gain of 36,065 ft achieved in 24 minutes while covering 147 nm.
Level cruise began 4 miles north-west of Varese Ligure in Liguria and continued for 99 minutes, during which the aircraft traversed 821 nm.
Descent was initiated 5 miles north of Alburquerque, Extremadura, Spain, descending from 37,011 ft asl to 1,629 ft asl, a loss of 35,382 ft in 17 minutes and covering 133 nm.
The final approach to runway 02 at LPPT Humberto Delgado Airport (Lisbon Portela) was flown from the south on a heading of 23.0° at 4 nm and 1,276 ft agl.
Landing on runway 02 was executed with a runway length of 3,716 m; the threshold speed was 141 kt, slightly above target. Touchdown occurred 101 m beyond the touchdown zone at a speed of 130 kt, with a vertical speed of minus 218 fpm and a lateral deviation of 4.7 m from the centreline. Local weather reported a temperature of 21 °C, wind from 339° at 22 kt (16 kt headwind, 15 kt crosswind). The total landing distance measured 1,360 m, equivalent to 37 % of the runway.
Runway rollout alignment was reported as very good, indicating the aircraft remained well aligned during the deceleration phase.
After exiting the runway, the aircraft taxied to the parking area in 3 minutes, covering less than 1 nm.
In total, the flight covered 1,110 nm, required 132 minutes of airborne time, and consumed 7,834 kg of fuel.
The Airbus A320 established the final approach to runway 02 at LPPT from the south on a heading of 23.0 °, 4 nm out and 1,276 ft agl, with ambient temperature 21 °C, wind 22 kt from 339 °, a 15 kt cross-component and a 16 kt headwind component.
At threshold the height was good and the aircraft crossed at a speed of 141 kt, which was slightly above the target.
Touchdown occurred 101 m beyond the designated touchdown zone, with a speed of 130 kt that was a little fast and a vertical rate of -218 fpm described as fair; the touchdown point was offset 4.7 m from the centreline.
The rollout covered 1,360 m, representing 37 % of the 3,716 m runway, and the alignment during rollout was very good.
To tighten the landing envelope, aim to reduce the threshold and touchdown speeds to the target values and adjust the flare to place the main gear within the touchdown zone, which will further improve precision without compromising safety.
