Fixing the bounce
Fast at the threshold, normal flare, and the runway seems to refuse the aircraft. The instinctive fix - pushing it on - causes the next one. A fast aircraft forced onto the runway touches nosewheel-first or nearly so. The tell is a touchdown that feels soft followed by a bounce that steepens. Pilots fix the bounce recovery; the cause was the 10 knots at the threshold.

One stabilised approach gate for a circuit: seven checks where the approach path is 300 ft above the runway. The 1,000 ft gate is an instrument-approach check and does not apply. These checks are the approach's score.
The approach, gate by gate
Side view — the last 1,524 m of the approach.
Plan view — the first 1,524 m of the 1,866 m runway, to the same scale as the side view.
Touched down 548 m past the threshold — beyond the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
The TL3000 Sirius departed Inverness Airport (EGPE) from runway 23, executing a roll-out distance of 208 m which represented 11 % of the available runway. Liftoff was achieved at 63 kt. Ambient conditions were 15 °C with a wind of 2 kt from 269°, comprising a 1 kt cross-wind component and a 2 kt head-wind component.
While remaining in the left-hand traffic pattern for runway 23, the aircraft entered the pattern and covered 2 nm in 23 seconds. The subsequent cross-wind segment was less than 1 nm and lasted 21 seconds. The downwind turn spanned 2 nm with a 47.8° angle to the runway, followed by a downwind leg of 3 nm completed in 104 seconds. The base-leg turn covered 2 nm at a 35.1° angle, the base leg itself was under 1 nm in 22 seconds, and the final turn was also under 1 nm, taking 27 seconds.
During the final approach the aircraft descended from 732 ft AGL to 43 ft AGL in 77 seconds, meeting the stabilisation gate criteria.
Touchdown occurred on runway 23, whose total length is 1 866 m. The threshold speed was recorded at 53 kt. The aircraft contacted the runway 117 m beyond the designated touchdown zone at a speed of 33 kt, with a vertical speed of minus 7 fpm. Runway-touchdown alignment was judged very good, and the same weather conditions as departure applied.
The landing roll measured 661 m, representing 35 % of the runway, and the rollout alignment was also described as very good.
In total the flight covered 10 nm, required 7 (unspecified units) of time, and consumed 1 kg of fuel.
The TL3000 Sirius made its final approach to runway 23 at EGPE Inverness Airport, descending from 732 ft agl to 43 ft agl in 77 seconds and was scored on the stabilisation gates.
During the threshold and flare phase the aircraft achieved a good threshold height and a good threshold speed of 53 kt, with local weather reporting a temperature of 15 °C, wind 2 kt from 270°, a 1 kt cross-wind component and a 2 kt head-wind.
Touchdown occurred 117 m beyond the touchdown zone; the touchdown speed was good at 33 kt, the touchdown rate was perfect at -7 fpm, and runway touchdown alignment was very good.
The rollout covered a total landing distance of 661 m, representing 35 % of the 1 866 m runway, and runway rollout alignment was very good.
To refine an already strong performance, aim to reduce the touchdown point distance so that the aircraft lands closer to the typical aim point of about 300 m (1 000 ft) down the runway, while maintaining the current speed and alignment standards.
