Work on the flare
Arrive slow and the sink rate at the threshold is already above schedule, the flare is short because there is no energy to extend it, and the touchdown is hard in a way that feels exactly like a late flare. Diagnosing a slow arrival as a late flare is the catastrophic misread: you respond by flaring earlier, which bleeds more speed, which makes the next one worse. The tiebreaker is threshold speed against VRef, not feel. Never diagnose a flare without it.

The threshold, the flare and the hold-off. The approach that led to it is the stabilisation gates below.
One stabilised approach gate: five checks where the approach path is 500 ft above the runway. The 1,000 ft gate was not assessed, because the approach did not join final that far out.
Side view — the last 1,524 m of the approach.
Plan view — the first 1,524 m of the 2,501 m runway, to the same scale as the side view.
Touched down 767 m past the threshold — beyond the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
The flight began with the Airbus A320 taxiing from the parking area to the runway at Innsbruck Airport, taking 7 minutes and covering a distance of 4 nautical miles. The departure roll took place on runway 08, with a takeoff distance of 775 meters, which accounted for 41% of the runway. The aircraft lifted off at a speed of 142 knots.
As the aircraft climbed out of Innsbruck, it encountered local weather conditions of 2°C temperature and a wind speed of 3 knots at 119 degrees. The crosswind was 2 knots, while the headwind was 3 knots. The enroute climb started overhead Innsbruck, with the aircraft ascending from 2,901 feet above sea level to 35,915 feet above sea level, an increase of 33,015 feet in 20 minutes, covering a distance of 101 nautical miles.
The enroute level cruise began 5 miles northeast of Lessach, Austria, and lasted for 2 minutes, covering 14 nautical miles. The aircraft then started its descent 2 miles northwest of Oberwoelz Stadt, Austria, descending from 36,559 feet above sea level to 34,576 feet above sea level, a decrease of 1,983 feet in 2 minutes, covering 24 nautical miles.
The enroute level cruise resumed 3 miles southwest of Kleinlobming, Austria, and lasted for 4 minutes, covering 46 nautical miles. The aircraft then began its descent overhead Breitenfeld an der Rittschein, Austria, descending from 34,458 feet above sea level to 1,986 feet above sea level, a decrease of 32,472 feet in 11 minutes, covering 49 nautical miles.
As the aircraft continued its journey, it started climbing 1 mile south of Zalacsány Heviz, Hungary, ascending from 1,985 feet above sea level to 2,838 feet above sea level, an increase of 852 feet in 2 minutes, covering 7 nautical miles. The enroute descent began 5 miles south of Pacsa, Hungary, descending from 2,834 feet above sea level to 1,981 feet above sea level, a decrease of 853 feet in 2 minutes, covering 9 nautical miles.
The enroute level cruise started 1 mile east of Zalakomar, Hungary, and lasted for 3 minutes, covering 4 nautical miles. The final approach to runway 34 at Hévíz–Balaton Airport began from the south, with the aircraft heading 345.0 degrees at 4 nautical miles and 1,213 feet above ground level.
The landing took place on runway 34, with a runway length of 2,501 meters. The threshold height was well above the target, while the threshold speed was good at 139 knots. The touchdown point was 344 meters beyond the touchdown zone, with a touchdown speed of 125 knots, which was good. However, the touchdown rate was fair at -253 feet per minute. The runway touchdown position was slightly misaligned by 3.1 meters from the centerline.
The local weather conditions at the time of landing were 5°C temperature and a wind speed of 21 knots at 350 degrees. The crosswind was 2 knots, while the headwind was 21 knots. The total landing distance was 1,258 meters, which accounted for 50% of the runway. The runway rollout alignment was very good.
In conclusion, the total flight distance was 263 nautical miles, taking 57 minutes, and the aircraft used 2,967 kilograms of fuel.
The Airbus A320 successfully landed at LHSM Hévíz–Balaton Airport, with a final approach from the south at a heading of 345.0°. The aircraft was at an altitude of 1,213 feet above ground level (agl) and 4 nautical miles from the runway at the time of the approach. The landing was executed on runway 34, which has a length of 2,501 meters.
The threshold height at 73 feet agl was above the target, indicating that the aircraft was slightly higher than desired at the point of touchdown. However, the threshold speed of 139 knots was within the acceptable range, demonstrating good control and management of the aircraft's descent. The touchdown point was 344 meters beyond the touchdown zone, which is a relatively minor deviation.
The touchdown speed of 125 knots was also within the acceptable range, indicating that the aircraft was well-controlled during the landing. However, the touchdown rate of -253 feet per minute (fpm) was only fair, suggesting that the aircraft may have experienced a slightly higher-than-desired rate of descent during the final stages of the approach.
The runway touchdown position was slightly misaligned by 3.1 meters from the centerline, which may have been due to a slight deviation in the aircraft's alignment during the approach. The local weather conditions at the time of the landing were characterized by a temperature of 5°C and a wind speed of 21 knots from a direction of 350°. The crosswind component was minimal at 2 knots, while the headwind component was 21 knots, which would have helped to stabilize the aircraft during the approach.
The total landing distance of 1,258 meters was 50% of the runway length, which is a relatively normal distance for an Airbus A320. The runway rollout alignment was very good, indicating that the aircraft was well-controlled during the post-landing phase. Overall, the landing was executed safely and efficiently, with only minor deviations from the desired parameters.
