Fixing the bounce
Fast at the threshold, normal flare, and the runway seems to refuse the aircraft. The instinctive fix - pushing it on - causes the next one. A fast aircraft forced onto the runway touches nosewheel-first or nearly so. The tell is a touchdown that feels soft followed by a bounce that steepens. Pilots fix the bounce recovery; the cause was the 10 knots at the threshold.

The threshold, the flare and the hold-off. The approach that led to it is the stabilisation gates below.
Two stabilised approach gates, each with five checks, where the approach path is 1,000 ft and 500 ft above the runway.
The approach, gate by gate
Side view — the last 1,524 m of the approach.
Plan view — the first 1,524 m of the 1,900 m runway, to the same scale as the side view.
The 371 m touchdown sits inside the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
The Airbus A319 taxied to runway 34 at LGMK Mykonos Island National Airport and commenced the take-off roll, using 756 m which represented 40 % of the available runway. Liftoff was achieved at 141 kt while the local weather reported a temperature of 26 °C, wind 36 kt from 349°, a 6 kt cross-wind component and a 35 kt head-wind component.
Climb began overhead Mykonos in the South Aegean, Greece, with the aircraft ascending from 1,234 ft asl to 4,008 ft asl - a gain of 2,775 ft - over a three-minute interval while covering 9 nm.
Cruise was established five miles south of Tinos, also in the South Aegean, and persisted for three minutes during which the flight covered 15 nm at level altitude.
Descent started nine miles north of Naxos, South Aegean, with the airplane descending from 3,593 ft asl to 1,709 ft asl, a loss of 1,884 ft, in three minutes while traversing 8 nm.
The final approach to runway 34 at LGMK Mykonos Island National Airport was executed from the south on a heading of 341.0°, intercepting the glide path at 4 nm and 1,303 ft agl. Local conditions at that time were temperature 26 °C, wind 32 kt from 350°, a 5 kt cross-wind and a 31 kt head-wind.
Landing on runway 34, whose length is 1,900 m, was achieved with a threshold speed of 132 kt, slightly above the target. Touchdown occurred 370 m down the runway at 128 kt, with a vertical speed of minus 258 fpm and a lateral deviation of 3.4 m from the centreline. The runway condition was reported as having a good threshold height.
In total the flight covered 37 nm, required 11 minutes of elapsed time, and consumed 17 kg of fuel.
The Airbus A319 approached runway 34 at LGMK Mykonos Island National Airport from the south on a heading of 341.0° at 4 nm and 1,303 ft agl. The final approach was assessed as stabilised at the 1,000 ft gate, with gear, flaps, sink rate, glideslope and centreline all within limits.
At threshold the aircraft maintained a speed slightly above target at 132 kt and the threshold height was good. The wind was reported as 32 kt from 350°, providing a 31 kt headwind component and a 5 kt crosswind.
Touchdown occurred 370 m down the runway at a speed of 128 kt, described as a little fast, with a fair vertical rate of minus 258 fpm. The touchdown point was slightly misaligned by 3.4 m from the centreline.
Maintain the target approach speed more precisely and refine flare timing to reduce touchdown speed and vertical rate, which will further improve alignment and overall landing quality.
