Improve the rollout
A crosswind landing is a geometry problem. The air mass you're flying in is moving sideways across the runway, and you need your ground track down the centreline with your wheels aligned to it at the moment of contact. There are two techniques that will help, the crab and the sideslip.

The threshold, the flare and the hold-off. The approach that led to it is the stabilisation gates below.
One stabilised approach gate: five checks where the approach path is 500 ft above the runway. The 1,000 ft gate was not assessed, because the approach did not join final that far out.
Side view — the last 1,629 m of the approach.
Plan view — the first 1,629 m of the 3,376 m runway, to the same scale as the side view.
The 412 m touchdown sits inside the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
The flight in the Boeing 777-300 began at YSSY Kingsford Smith Intl with a 14-minute taxi from the parking area to the runway, covering 3 nm. The subsequent level cruise began 36 miles southeast of Fingal Bay and lasted 13 minutes, covering 122 nm. Another climb started 95 miles southeast of Hat Head and took the aircraft from 29,931 ft asl to 31,171 ft asl over 2 minutes, covering 20 nm.
The next level cruise segment commenced at a specific latitude and longitude and lasted 188 minutes, covering 1,727 nm. A climb then occurred 86 miles east of NLAO Alo Airport Alo, raising the aircraft from 30,999 ft asl to 32,449 ft asl over 2 minutes and 19 nm. This was followed by another level cruise segment starting at a separate latitude and longitude, lasting 100 minutes and covering 1,590 nm.
Another climb took place 79 miles south of PLBA Banana Village Airport in Kiribati, elevating the aircraft from 32,899 ft asl to 34,898 ft asl over 2 minutes and covering 64 nm. The subsequent level cruise began 85 miles east of the same airport and lasted 25 minutes, covering 1,763 nm. The final climb segment started at a specific latitude and longitude, increasing the altitude from 35,080 ft asl to 36,590 ft asl over 2 minutes and 109 nm, followed by a level cruise lasting 62 minutes and covering 897 nm.
The descent began 31 miles south of KBUE Ranger Station Airstrip Buellton, reducing the altitude from 36,439 ft asl to 2,638 ft asl over 16 minutes and covering 74 nm. The level cruise segment after the descent started 12 miles southwest of Malibu and lasted 5 minutes, covering 20 nm.
The landing occurred on runway 07R at KLAX Los Angeles Intl, with a touchdown distance of 413 m from the threshold and a touchdown speed of 134 kn. The VSI at touchdown was -303 ft/m, and the total landing distance was 1,550 m, 46% of the runway length. The flight concluded with a 10-minute taxi from the runway to the parking area, covering less than 1 nm.
Overall, the total flight distance was 6,512 nm, taking 474 minutes and consuming 105,688 kg of fuel.
Great job on achieving an impressive aircraft landing score of 98.5%! Let's break down the different phases of the landing to understand why you received such a high score.
During the Approach Phase, your glideslope alignment was excellent, indicating a smooth and controlled descent towards the runway. This is crucial for ensuring a safe and precise approach to the landing.
Moving on to the Landing Phase, you displayed good threshold height awareness, which is important for gauging the correct altitude for initiating the landing. Additionally, your landing flare was great, indicating a smooth transition from descent to touchdown.
In the Touchdown Phase, despite a hard touchdown rate, your speed was on target, ensuring a stable landing. Moreover, the touchdown distance inside the touchdown zone and the runway touchdown position were very good, showcasing your precision in landing the aircraft.
Lastly, during the Rollout Phase, although the runway alignment was slightly off at 4.6 meters from the centerline, this is a minor point considering the overall strong performance in the other phases of the landing.
Overall, your attention to detail, precision, and control throughout the landing phases contributed to your high score. Keep up the good work and continue honing your skills to further improve your aircraft landing technique. Well done on a job well executed!
