The Tecnam P2006T MKII is a twin-engine, high-wing, four-seat light utility monoplane produced by the Italian manufacturer Costruzione Aeronautiche Tecnam, first flown on 13 September 2007 and introduced in 2010. It occupies a niche as a lightweight multi-engine trainer, and for simulator pilots it is best known through the FlightSim Studio recreation for Microsoft Flight Simulator, which is built around a real reference airframe and a custom Rotax engine and autopilot simulation.

Overview

The P2006T MKII is a twin-engine, high-wing, four-seat light utility monoplane manufactured by the Italian aerospace company Costruzione Aeronautiche Tecnam. Its high-wing layout and twin-piston configuration set it apart from most light singles in its class, and it has become associated in particular with the twin-engine training role.

History & Development

The P2006T design first flew on 13 September 2007 and the aircraft was introduced into service in 2010, establishing Tecnam's twin-engine model within the light aircraft market.

Design & Specifications

The aircraft is built as a high-wing, twin-engine monoplane seating four occupants, configured as a light utility type suited to flight training and personal use.

Performance & Handling

The P2006T is credited with a range of 750 miles, a service ceiling of 14,000 feet above sea level, and a climb rate of 1,000 feet per minute.

Variants

The MKII designation refers to the version of the P2006T modelled in current simulator releases, reflecting an updated iteration of the base twin-engine design.

Operational Use

The type is marketed and used as a twin-engine trainer, valued for allowing pilots to build multi-engine experience in a light, economical airframe suited to flight school operations.

In the Simulator

The FlightSim Studio rendition of the P2006T MKII for Microsoft Flight Simulator is modelled on a real-world reference aircraft registered XB-SCO, with a PBR-textured 3D model, decals, and several real-world liveries. The cockpit features a customised version of the Working Title G1000 NXi, a bespoke Rotax engine simulation, and a custom STEC-55X autopilot, alongside a Wasm-coded SAM standby instrument. Two operating modes are offered: an Easy mode using the default MSFS engine and startup logic with circuit breakers disabled and no persistent state saving, and a Realistic mode that enables full circuit-breaker failure simulation, a simulated Emergency Gear Deployment System, a proper walkaround requirement, authentic Rotax start procedures, and persistent saving of aircraft state. Numerous animations cover doors, cockpit switches and knobs, and walkaround items such as chocks, tie-downs, control-surface locks and a pitot cover, alongside dynamic payload that adjusts with aircraft weight across passenger, cargo and observer configurations. An integrated EFB/tablet provides ground power and engine pre-heater controls, a moving map with flight plan, weight-and-balance settings, an interactive walkaround panel, panel state loading, a Mission Hub with scenarios based on real-world operators, and Navigraph Charts support. The soundscape is built from real recordings of the reference aircraft, reproducing typical Rotax engine notes and ambient effects, with a noise-cancelling headset option, and the aircraft is fully compatible with both Xbox and PC versions of the simulator. Native MSFS icing visualisation and rain effects are also integrated for added environmental realism.
